Lifeguard Sleeping Posted December 19, 2002 Posted December 19, 2002 Hello all! i've just registered a domain and a hosting plan on *****. i will be able to access the control panel tomorrow, right? Quote
Lianna Posted December 19, 2002 Posted December 19, 2002 As soon as you get your welcome email, which should be well within 24 hours of the account request. There will be instructions there for accessing the control panel by IP until the domain name is fully propogated. When the domain name prop completes, usually 24-72 hours from the time of signup, then you can access the control panel from your browser via http://******/cpanel (replacing "******" with, well, YOUR domain). Welcome to SNH! Lianna Quote

Lifeguard Sleeping Posted December 21, 2002 Author Posted December 21, 2002 so far so good, everything works fine! but how do i redirect my default address (www.****) to the index.htm page i created? at present my default address gives me this: "SNH Network Operations Center Please refer to your welcome email for instructions on viewing your Web Site. Thank You." but i didn't find any instruction on the e-mail... Quote
Lianna Posted December 21, 2002 Posted December 21, 2002 Use the cPanel File Manager and look to see if you have: index.htm AND index.html If so, realize that they are two distinct and different files. One is the SNH welcome the other is probably your site's home page. Simply delete the SHN file. Lianna Quote
TCH-Don Posted December 21, 2002 Posted December 21, 2002 If you uploaded an index.htm, but did not remove the original index.html, then you will see the original page from SNH, the index.html (html take precedence over htm). also be sure that you put your pages into the public_html folder Files for public access (your website) must be uploaded to the public_html directory. Lifeguard Sleeping Posted December 21, 2002 Author Posted December 21, 2002 thanks lstover and turtle! i just deleted the index.html file and it's working! damn, i'm thick! Quote
Lifeguard Sleeping Posted December 23, 2002 Author Posted December 23, 2002 which version of phpBB is used? if i install it by ftp, should i create a folder called www.****\forums or put it in the public html folder? Quote
Lianna Posted December 24, 2002 Posted December 24, 2002 Let cPanel do all the work for you! phpBB is an option through the control panel. Just click it and follow the directions. Schmeazy. Lianna Quote
