I must be missing something...

When I go to my File manager in my Cpanel, I can't open any files. For instance, I see my public_html file, I click on it to view the contents, but the file doesn't open, I do see the choices on the right side (delete file, change permissions, etc.)and it seems to go to another level, but public_html contents/files are not visible. I do have my web site in the public-html folder which I uploaded using an FTP program, and the site is up and running.

I could not find anything in the Cpanel instructions to explain this, or to tell me any mistakes I may be making.

What am I doing wrong? :(

Thanks in advance,

Ray

Ray,

you are using the icon to navigate rather than the text are you?

clicking on the text link allows you to set properties etc. whereas clicking on the folder icons allows you to navigate.

Can you navigate to any other areas?

I did the same thing the first time I used the file manager.

took me a while to figure out

you had to click on the icon to goto a folder,

and the text link to change the properties. :(

I did the same thing when I first tried it -- had to look twice, three times, before I understood how it works.

 Thanks guys,

You're right, I must have been only clicking on the text and not the file icon. Also, I found I should be going to the WWW folder to see my site files and not public_html, even though I uploaded the site to the public_html folder.

Now I know, thanks again,

A pleasure - we've all been there and made that mistake

the www and the public_html directories should be the same though, because they both point at exactly the same space

Yes..... we all have been there

As popular as cPanel is, I am surprised that they have not changed to a more intuitive design.

My least favorite "feature" is that the Edit File and Delete File links are next to each other. More than once I have moved the mouse just enough as I clicked to hit the wrong one.
