Guest Barbara B. Posted May 16, 2003 Posted May 16, 2003 I want to keep the .com that I regsitered originally with another company... how can I transfer the name to totalchoicehosting? I cannot contact the original hosting company. Quote
TCH-JimE Posted May 16, 2003 Posted May 16, 2003 Hi, You will need to contact the registar of the domain name. Can you quote the domain name so we can check? If not, can you log in and change the name servers for your domain name? Jim Quote
Guest Guest Posted May 16, 2003 Posted May 16, 2003 I registered it originally with featureprice.com Quote
Guest Guest Posted May 16, 2003 Posted May 16, 2003 I'm sorry I didn't read your response correctly... my website name (which I want to keep) is http://www.pattonuncovered.com. Thanks. Quote
TCH-Sales Posted May 16, 2003 Posted May 16, 2003 If your wanting to transfer the domain name from your old register to our register, then all you'll need to do is go to our domain name registration page, and click on the transfer link. There'll be a $10.95 fee involved. If your wanting to keep your domain name register, then all you'll need to do is update the DNS pointers at that said register, to our DNS servers. Quote
Guest Guest Posted May 16, 2003 Posted May 16, 2003 Ok - now does your company host my website when I transfer it? Will I be able to make changes to my website? Quote
TCH-Sales Posted May 16, 2003 Posted May 16, 2003 What I described was how to transfer your domain NAME, doing the whole site (what you actually have on there) is another mater all together. Quote
Guest Guest Posted May 16, 2003 Posted May 16, 2003 How would I go about that? Can I transfer the name and then sign up for your company to host that name? Would that work? Quote
TCH-Sales Posted May 16, 2003 Posted May 16, 2003 Yep, that'd do it! Get the domain name transfered, then pick the plan you want, wait for it to be set up, and then FTP your site from your computer onto our servers! Easy as that. Quote
TCH-Rick Posted May 16, 2003 Posted May 16, 2003 It would be good to look pretty quickly at the policies of your current registrar since your domain expires in June. There are different policies on transfering within a certain window that can make it more difficult. Quote
