Head Guru Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 Sad Sad day in the world of High Definition Satellite. Will their birds come falling down. Dear Bill Kish, As we recently notified you on-screen and as you may have also read in the newspapers or on our website, the VOOM service is being terminated on April 30th. The notice period is designed to provide you an opportunity to transition to another television service provider. We are currently reviewing customer accounts in preparation for final statement delivery and service termination. There is no action you need to take at this time, other than to contact a new service provider. We have valued our relationship, and thank you for being a loyal VOOM customer. Sincerely, VOOM Customer Service Quote
stevevan Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 Read about this in USA Today about a month or so ago. Seems they weren't getting enough subscribers as more were going to Directv and Dish. Agree...it's too bad. Quote
Head Guru Posted April 14, 2005 Author Posted April 14, 2005 The sad thing, it's the only source of Hockey this year with the NHL being on strike. Quote

stevevan Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 Or go watch the AHL or ECHL. What was Voom showing? P.S. Pensacola Ice Pilots won the Brabham Cup for having the best record in the ECHL. First playoff game is tonight! Unfortunately, I'm not home to see it! Quote
TCH-Rick Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 They open the playoffs against our local Greenville Growl tonight and play here Saturday night. Quote
gameaholix Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 The loss of Voom really was a major set back to those of us with HD sets. I had planned to subscribe until I heard the news they were being shutdown. Although I belive Cablevision does have plans to keep some of the Voom exclusive channels, so we may see them again in the future. I only wish I would have had the chance to try them out. For now it looks like I'll be getting all my HD OTA because the HD offerings by the other major satellite and cable companies is pretty pathetic compared to what I can get with an antenna. Quote
