But i got error during installation: >Warning: mysql_error(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /home/proxybl/public_html/pb-forum/db/mysql4.php on line 330 Warning: mysql_errno(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /home/proxybl/public_html/pb-forum/db/mysql4.php on line 331 phpBB : Critical Error Could not connect to the database Try almost everything and still do not what i did mistake. As first i created database and then add username/password. So it should be simple then just fill in by phpBB: Database Type: Mysql 4.x Database Server Hostname / DSN: localhost Your Database Name: (name of database that i chosed) Database Username: (username that i chosed) Database Password: (password that i chose for username above) Prefix for tables in database : and prefix is standard but everytime i geting error above! borfast Posted February 28, 2005 Posted February 28, 2005 Make sure you're using the correct database name and database username. Unless you're using your cpanel username and password, they should be in the form of yourcpanelusername_databasename and yourcpanelusername_databaseusername. Quote
Make Posted February 28, 2005 Author Posted February 28, 2005 I know it and i try but without any luck. DNS/IP info is still not changed but i think it is not problem. Actually what i did again is copy exactly same database name and database user as it stated there. So through cpanel/Mysql under Databases: i just copied databasename (and i see that user chosed under is added to that database) and under user i copied exactly name as it stated there. Then i copy password that i chosed for username above. And still error. Really lost!It should be and must be simple but... Quote
borfast Posted February 28, 2005 Posted February 28, 2005 Well, if you're doing everything OK, I'm out of ideas, sorry. Perhaps you should open a Help Desk ticket, then... Quote
Make Posted February 28, 2005 Author Posted February 28, 2005 I've solved problem.Thankf for your help.I did again a stupid mistake.Forget to add username really to that db. Oh it seems that i miss stronger coffee this afternoon. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted February 28, 2005 Posted February 28, 2005 Forget to add username really to that db. Yep, that will do it every time. Glad you have it working. Quote
sourjayne Posted March 21, 2005 Posted March 21, 2005 Hey there, I am having the exact same error as above. I have created the database and added a user, and am using the cpanelusername_databasestuff for the required fields as advised above. I feel like everything is right, but it still isn't working. So I opened a help desk ticket and received a response. My answer from them was "Your installation is not complete." Uhhh... that's the problem, not the solution! Is there anything else I don't know? I'm a total newbie at mySQL stuff, so... help? Maybe there's a restriction with the number of letters that your username has to be, or you can't have upper and lowercase numbers, or maybe I was supposed to set something else up that I missed in the instructions besides just a database and a user for that database? Thanks for any help you can provide! Quote
TCH-Dick Posted March 21, 2005 Posted March 21, 2005 sourjayne, please check your email. I have replied to your ticket and you should be good to go. Quote
sourjayne Posted March 21, 2005 Posted March 21, 2005 Hey thanks very very much! In case anyone else has the problem I had -- I was confused by the interface, I didn't realize you had to do one more step after creating a user account to add that user to the database. I can see it now, of course Thanks for your help and for the prompt reply! Quote
TCH-Dick Posted March 21, 2005 Posted March 21, 2005 Good to hear you got everything working. If you need anything else just let us know. Quote

TCH-Don Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Welcome to the forum Just to sure, here is my check list -- databse connect ---- Be sure that in MySql you 1 - created the database 2 - created a user 3 -added the user to the database (go back to MySql and find the Add user select the user and database, and then Add user to database) Then to connect to the database in a script use: host: localhost database: yourCpanelName_databaseName user: yourCpanelName_databaseUser password: mypassword * Note password is just as the password, do not add the CpanelName to it. --------------------------- Quote
TCH-JimE Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Welcome to the forums sourjayne and also to 100595. 100595 can you please submit a support ticket and we shall take a look for you? Many thanks JimE Quote

TCH-Thomas Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 Sorry cant answer the database question since I don't use phpbb but the cpanelname is the same you login to your cpanel with and it is in your welcome letter. Quote
100595 Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 (edited) Sorry cant answer the database question since I don't use phpbb but the cpanelname is the same you login to your cpanel with and it is in your welcome letter. So when I log into phpMyAdmin and it comes up with: "welcome..."? It comes up with; '6.7.2.3 pl-1' or something.... Thank you, again Edited May 16, 2006 by 100595 Quote
abinidi Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 No. Thomas is referring to the cPanel username that you use to log in to the back end of your domain to get to your site's control panel (where you manage e-mail, upload files, etc.) The welcome letter Thomas referrs to is the welcome letter you received from TCH when you began hosting here. All of the above assumes that you are a TCH client and you are trying to host your phpBB forum on a TCH server. Welcome to the TCH family forum! Quote
TCH-JimE Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 100595, You can always start a help desk support ticket and they can take a look at this for you. JimE Quote
