ace Posted December 2, 2004 Posted December 2, 2004 Hello, The server status page that loads shows "host is alive". In my opinion I don't find this helpful at all. What is "alive"? Also what happend to the rest of the servers after 79.... This page does no good for somebody on server 80 and above. Maybe it is still being worked on at this point? Thanks Quote
ace Posted December 2, 2004 Author Posted December 2, 2004 ok ok I guess I could have been clearer on what I meant. What is alive? Such as http, smtp. ssl, mysql. Unless you click on each button you don't know what is alive. Maybe you could name each "host is alive". such as SMTP/Alive etc. Also when will the other servers be added...Those past 79. Thanks Quote
TCH-Dick Posted December 2, 2004 Posted December 2, 2004 You dont have to click on anything, if the image is green the server is up, if the image is red the server is down. If its not down you really wouldnt absolutely HAVE to see which service it is. Newer server wills be added soon, we just moved to a new server for that monitoring software. Before we moved it they were labeled, and I'm sure they will be again. Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted December 2, 2004 Posted December 2, 2004 Click the buttons and it says which service it is. Quote
ace Posted December 3, 2004 Author Posted December 3, 2004 Unless you click on each button you don't know what is alive. I think I knew that........ see quote from prior post,,,,thanks though Mike......I am glad that they will be labeled again. It makes it easier to hit the status page...notice what's up or down and then move on. It also eliminates the need to click the button to see what service is down. The way it was before was great. Great work on the forum btw.. Quote
Head Guru Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 Ace, Just a off the topic question for you. Are you still hosting with TCH? I noticed that the domain in your profile is hosted on a non TCH server. Bill Quote

Head Guru Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 It appears your using a redirect of some sort for the domain name listed in your sig. I did some checking and actually the DNS server for godaddy was down and thus the dns lookups were timing out. Bill Quote
TCH-Rob Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 Bill, The redirect points to a domain hosted here. Quote
Head Guru Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 Rob - Thanks. Ace, I would be concerned with the fact that by placing a redirect from godaddy you are creating a second point of failure. Bill Quote
ace Posted December 3, 2004 Author Posted December 3, 2004 I have another domain redirected to the root index of familyconex.com... This is OK...right? Thanks Quote
ace Posted December 3, 2004 Author Posted December 3, 2004 Good point......if they continue to have problems I will park the domain with TCH. That would eliminate the second failure op. Up to this year Godaddy has been reliable. This last month was the first time I have had issues. The trace route above looks like it resolved to a Godaddy's IP address but it looks like it is passing through a unresponsive router first. (or it could be their outside router just passing data) 21 - - 0.0.0.0 Unknown No Response 22 14 6 64.202.167.129 Unknown ip-64-202-167-129.secureserver.net Thoughts? Thanks Quote
