Doesn't iTunes for Windows also convert songs to MP3's? I've never used to the windows version but the Mac version is what I use to encode all of my CD's.

I have heard a lot of good things about MusicMatch though.

MikeJ - You can burn CDs with Itunes (and I assume you can rip them too), but we've had nothing but trouble with the Windows version of their software. It's really flaky IMO. We got a bunch of free downloads from Pepsi caps and haven't even used them because we get sick of the program not doing what it's supposed to.

Bellringr -- What sorts of problems have you had? I've been pleasantly surprised by how much I like using iTunes on Windows. (I'm increasingly using it for ripping, too; though it has taken me a little while to come around, I like ripping directly to my music library.) If you're not going to use your Pepsi downloads, I'll trade you some gmail accounts for them! =)

Hi Schussat :) It's mainly been the cd burning part that we've had issues with. Basically, it takes several tries to get it to actually START burning, and we've ruined a few CDs with it failing partway through. I don't think it's our burner because it works fine with other programs.

As for the pepsi caps, we've already put the codes in our account (and they're hubby's anyway so I can't give them away). Sorry!

I use CDex. It's an open-source piece of software. Works wonders for me, I was able to convert my entire Van Halen collection to MP3, which is absolutely awesome... Over 80 VH songs on my Dell DJ (That I won here at TCH, actually... :))

Hey Robert, now that it's been several months, how about a follow-up review of the Dell DJ? How's it holding up, etc?

Bellringr, thanks for the info. I have yet to try to do any burning with iTunes, so I haven't encountered those problems -- yet?
