schussat Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 Under Windows, I use Exact Audio Copy to do all my CD ripping. It's free and produces high-quality output. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 cro8, there is a freeware version of MusicMatch Jukebox, I answered in the other thread. Quote
bellringr Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 I agree with Bruce - we really like Music Match (in fact, we're upgrading to the pay version). Quote
MikeJ Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 Doesn't iTunes for Windows also convert songs to MP3's? I've never used to the windows version but the Mac version is what I use to encode all of my CD's. I have heard a lot of good things about MusicMatch though. Quote
bellringr Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 MikeJ - You can burn CDs with Itunes (and I assume you can rip them too), but we've had nothing but trouble with the Windows version of their software. It's really flaky IMO. We got a bunch of free downloads from Pepsi caps and haven't even used them because we get sick of the program not doing what it's supposed to. Quote

Bellringr -- What sorts of problems have you had? I've been pleasantly surprised by how much I like using iTunes on Windows. (I'm increasingly using it for ripping, too; though it has taken me a little while to come around, I like ripping directly to my music library.) If you're not going to use your Pepsi downloads, I'll trade you some gmail accounts for them! =) Quote
CRO8 Posted September 2, 2004 Author Posted September 2, 2004 ok all Im back and found a way to convert the .cda files to mp3. I used poikosoft. It worked great and easy to use. Here is the fruit of my labor Thanks all. Quote
bellringr Posted September 2, 2004 Posted September 2, 2004 Hi Schussat It's mainly been the cd burning part that we've had issues with. Basically, it takes several tries to get it to actually START burning, and we've ruined a few CDs with it failing partway through. I don't think it's our burner because it works fine with other programs. As for the pepsi caps, we've already put the codes in our account (and they're hubby's anyway so I can't give them away). Sorry! Quote
DarqFlare Posted September 2, 2004 Posted September 2, 2004 (edited) I use CDex. It's an open-source piece of software. Works wonders for me, I was able to convert my entire Van Halen collection to MP3, which is absolutely awesome... Over 80 VH songs on my Dell DJ (That I won here at TCH, actually... ) Edited September 2, 2004 by TCH-Robert Quote

Over 80 VH songs on my Dell DJ (That I won here at TCH, actually... ) Hey Robert, now that it's been several months, how about a follow-up review of the Dell DJ? How's it holding up, etc? Bellringr, thanks for the info. I have yet to try to do any burning with iTunes, so I haven't encountered those problems -- yet? Quote
allaboutmadonna.com Posted September 3, 2004 Posted September 3, 2004 You can also use new Windows Media Player 10 ! It's great ! Older versions didn't have free mp3 convert option but this one has ! Quote
