This is what I get from speedfan and MBM and others on idle. MotherBoard 49c CPU 42c Hard Drive1 45c Hard Drive2 41c Video Card 42c Mother Board will go up to 56c on simple games. Is this to high? LisaJill Posted July 28, 2004 Posted July 28, 2004 A lot of what contributes to heat is what surface you have the pc on, how much space around it and what kind of cooling you've implemented. If you're worried abou theat make sure the computer is on a hard, flat surface (no carpets) and has some room around it with good circulation. =) Quote

(also voltage monitoring) If parameters fall above or below the settings you set they can set off alarms, shut down the system and even email you of the problems. Ninepatch Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 I was having a bit of fun - I do know that internal temps can create havoc. Are there any other options besides Motherboard Monitor you'd recommend? I'm working toward getting a new system and am often amazed that my 5 year old box has only ever had one major problem. The fan is the one thing I actually worry about and keeping the CPU well ventilated is the number one considertion for me. I've never thought of taking the shell off, I have a cat who is a gold medal class shedder. Then again, I'm not running the space shuttle here, either. Quote

I had heard it was important to keep the sides of the cases on to maintain the correct airflow within the case, and that while you might think that taking the sides off will help with cooling, you can actually have an opposite effect.
