lubox.com Posted June 3, 2004 Posted June 3, 2004 Hello, Another and certainly one of the last question before signing up What I want to do since my severe hosting problem, is to generate every 6h a backup of my mysql databases and upload it onto another server through ftp? Is it possible to do so? and if it is, is it allowed by the tch policy? Regards, Ludo Quote
TCH-Rob Posted June 3, 2004 Posted June 3, 2004 Shouldn't be an issue, once every 6 hours is perfectly fine. The big thing is resources, unless your database is "huge" I cant foresee it being an issue. Quote

No, the DB is actually very small a tiny one The first website I will host is a new born forum... but hopefully will become busy! What do you mean by "huge"? You are speaking about Gb or less? MikeJ Posted June 3, 2004 Posted June 3, 2004 (edited) That should be just fine. Just keep in mind that those transfers for backups will count against your monthly bandwidth limit, so make sure to account for that when you select a webhosting package (however, you can upgrade packages at any time.) Yep, I thought about that, and it should be ok.. Anyway this first accoutn is really to test out the service, support etc... if everything is fine, will upgrade to a middle size reseller account. I'm bored of changing hosting company every 1-2 y... Ludo Quote
Head Guru Posted June 3, 2004 Posted June 3, 2004 I noticed your posting over at WHT. I would suggest one thing when looking for hosting. Do not be overly concerned with pricing. While it is important, it should not be your deciding factor. Perhaps that is why your changing hosts so often. The reason we dont offer add on domains is to keep our servers fast and reliable. It has been talked about so many times here on these forums, but we will not be offering add on domains to our virtual hosting plans. This is why we offer the reseller accounts. Good luck in your search for a new host. Bill Quote

While it is important, it should not be your deciding factor. Perhaps that is why your changing hosts so often. Before it was, I reckon... But my sites before was not important at all, I did not care about uptime... and to tell the truth I did not know much about hosting, only the basics... Now price, it's not anymore my deciding factor that's why I pop around here I have known you for a while but I was not interested by paying this price before, as I'm a little student with 10-15 non-profits websites. My actual company is a new one, I decided to give them a go, if nobody starts with a new hosting company... the company will never start, but I've been unlucky :( and the newt company where I will settle down, will have me for a long time for my personal, non-profits, and business sites... I'm interested in long term relationship... (Gosh, my marketing teacher managed to teach me that ) btw, I always had good advice at WHT, that's why I asked... I received 5-10PM for *web hosting* lol, but I'm not interested by them. Regards, Ludovic P.S.: You must have received my account actiation or it's on its way... Quote
