TCH-Thomas Posted May 11, 2004 Posted May 11, 2004 I just read a newsmail from Bravenet. It says this about some competition they have I'd like to congratulate this month's winner of the Affiliates Award draw. As the winner of the Affiliates Award, (name) will receive 10,000 visitors from the Traffic Exchange service. How can they guarantee that the winner gets that many visitors? Quote
LisaJill Posted May 11, 2004 Posted May 11, 2004 They leave the affiliate stuff available til he hits 10,000 hits from it. They haven't mentioned a time frame, at least in what you quoted... *grins* Tricky tricky. Quote
Deverill Posted May 11, 2004 Posted May 11, 2004 The Traffic Exchange will increase hits to your site exponentially! Once you have pasted the Exchange code on your site, each time a visitor leaves your site a background exchange window is unobtrusively displayed behind the visitor's main browser window. Every time a window is displayed to your visitors you earn an Exchange credit. Exchange credits are used to display your own site on other Exchange members' websites. The more you earn, the more your page is displayed around the network. They rig your site to do a popunder to another site. If someone goes to one of their "affiliates" sites then they may get a popunder to yours. It's an automatic visit to your site even if they close it without looking at it. Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted May 11, 2004 Author Posted May 11, 2004 Ok, i understand. Thanks both Lisa and Jim. And no, they didnt write any time frame as i saw. Quote
torvan Posted May 19, 2004 Posted May 19, 2004 They are insidious things, so nicely killed by the Google toolbar. Quote

I am kinda upset with Bravenet right now. I used to use them for counters.. Now they are sending pop up sites from their counters... I am trying to change all the counters from what I have in the cpanel.. but its a big job... Free? Thats a scarey word now on the net eh? LOL! Weezy Quote
DarqFlare Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004 Free doesn't exist on the Internet. There's always a price, even if it isn't money. Banner advertisements and popups are a form of "payment." Quote
