  5. Good Luck and let us know what you find. My understanding is that Vista requires a pretty powerful video controller to run the Glass functions, something much more powerfull than the majority of video cards installed today. Also, I'm not even certain the hardware requirements are complete yet. Vista will be fully out in 2007. In order for KDE or any Linux environment to use these video features a specific hardware driver would have to be written, IF it's only a driver issue, and that takes time.
  6. Keep in mind that GIF, PNG and JPG file formats are image files, not video. Even though an amimated GIF may look similar to a video, it's still not a video. So technically the only way to convert a video WMA file to those formats would be to convert the video to a series of still images, hence the screen shot suggestions, etc...
  7. The ZA Internet Lock blocks ALL network traffic to and from your PC. The theory is that you can always stop traffic if you suspect your PC has been taken over and is sending way too much internet traffic. I've never seen the need for that lock in the 5 years I've been using firewalls but it's nice to know it's there.
  8. jayson, With ZA installed you do not need to run MS firewall. ZoneAlarm disables MS during the install process. You can get into plenty of trouble trying to run two firewalls at once. If you open security center (from control panel in Windows) it should tell you that you have a valid firewall (ZA) running.
  9. Deadwood being a fan of the series I couldn't post the real first word I thought of here..

  11. Hi kj, Fantastico adds the ability for a "quick install" of applications without having to read any documentation first. It gets you up and running with just a few clicks, anything after that is up to you. IF you decide to use the installed package on your site that's when you have to read the software documentation and install updates according to those instructions. If Wordpress (or any app for that matter) is already installed and running, Fantastico could install a version into another or test folder as Don suggests. However, you might want to watch out for default install settings (in Fantastico) that might interfere with your existing setup. You wouldn't want a test version of Wordpress using your production Wordpress database for example. Let us know how it goes? Thanks
  12. Great! It works and looks good now. Super collaboration Dave and David I agree -->
  13. Dave, It looks great in FF I am getting unexpected results though. I see the correct menu of years only. When I click a year the available months appear below it as expected. What I didn't expect to happen is the menu fully expanding when I click a month. While the photos are loading all years and all months are displayed on the menu (everything expanded). Then, Once the last photo of the month completes loading, the menu totally collapses. Had the year I clicked remained open it would not have been so obvious. On months with few photos you don't notice it, it's the months with a ful page of photos to load that leaves it open long enough to notice. I had expected only the year I selected to stay expanded. I don't know about these things yet but I'd like to learn something if I can discuss it a monent.... Could you use frames here? Put the menu in a separate frame and the pictures in another? By doing that would it then leave the menu in the same state with each click? (I mean the page would not completely reload with every click on a month, thus resetting the menu state.) I don't know if it's a good idea to use frames anymore, I'm just wondering out loud so to speak) Thanks for sharing

  15. Wow! Thanks Thomas! I've been waiting about two months to take a look at Calendar but I gave up checking about two weeks ago.
  16. Maybe your browser is setup for manual updates? The update settings can be found under Tools | Options | Advanced | Update Look under "When updates to Firefox are found:" The one thing I don't know how to set (or even IF it can be set) is how often to check for updates.... I noticed earlier versions did not check very often, one PC setup didn't check until a week after my first system updated.
  17. Thanks Steve. Firefox installed this update automatically, shortly after I opened the browser. All I had to do was click OK to the Restart Firefox? prompt. That was even easier than clicking the extra icon under the maximize button in the top rigtht corner! (only shows when an update is ready)
  18. Well, one thing you can do is use CPanel to make a complete backup of your site. Download the backup and store it somewhere safe. If you backup everything first you can always have the site restored and start over deleting again. You can also check your e-mail settings through CPanel.

It doesn't seem to like the line >action="_derived/nortbots.htm" Do you even have that folder/file on your site?
  20. What do you mean Dave?
  21. Hi Kelly, Welcome to the boards! I'm sure that someone from TCH will answer your question about the different folders but the public_html folder is the location where all your online files are. That's the folder the world looks at when they visit your site. Don't delete that folder or the files in it or your site may stop working. Good Luck!
  22. Look for the section on 'HTTP publishing' in Composer. The good news is Composer can upload your pages to your website. It's just a matter of setting up the program properly. Try looking in Help for "Publish". You'll need your ftp settings provided in your welcome e-mail from TCH. Once you get setup it will just be a matter of clicking the Publish button. Let us know how it goes....

  25. Thanks Jim. I agree. It was a great video and popular too....as long as it was on his (or his brother's) server. The video credits listed his name so I was confident adding the link to our site when he requested that. I've sent him to G_____ video to see what happens there before we do anything else.
