  1. Having a problem in Horde. Looks like it was updated recently, as more buttons have appeared, etc. Signs of an upgrade. However, with this upgrade ... I cannot view my address book anymore. When I click on address book, either in the upper bar or the side bar, it brings up an address book search instead of the overall listing. I went into address book options and even set the default display to show the entire listing, and the search still comes up. Experiencing this problem with more than one account on Horde. Thoughts?

    Fp Password

Try uninstalling, cleaning up, then reinstalling FP extensions. This will clear out the files that FP uses to verify your username and password and rebuild it. I had that problem a lot with my old host when the extensions got screwed up.

    Major Mess Up

I'm on the complete opposite end of the spectrum. I am FrontPage gung ho all the way. Experience has shown me that people get frustrated easily, especially with older versions. To this day I still use FP 2000 and have done so for over 7 years. If you want something to work right, you just need to have the patience and fortitude to figure it out. http://www.decats.org is done completely with frontpage and photoshop. Regarding publishing problems ... you need to publish to your site ... don't do all this dragging and moving business. Build your site, save it on your HD, then use the publish feature from frontpage. Publish via http or ftp. I use FP and "hot-edit" ... meaning when I go File>Open Web (or Recent Webs), I type in the http address to open the web directly on the server so that when I click save, it is saving directly to my TCH server instead of my HD. Risky but efficient.
  4. Try uninstalling and cleaning up all front page extensions. Then reinstall and try again. If that doesn't work, submit a help ticket request and tell them you're having trouble with frontpage extensions.
  5. I had this problem when I first moved to TCH ... I was anxious to get my website away from my old demon host and onto a new server. Couldn't connect via frontpage for publishing or hot editing until everything propogated ... just had to be patient.
  6. There isn't a way to set the "from" address that I'm aware of. What I do is on the form that the user fills in, I include an email field. Then, in the form options, the results of the form are emailed, and I set the "reply to" feature to look at the email field of the form. Then, when I hit "reply" in outlook, it takes out ourtchname@serveryadayada.tchblahdeblah.com and puts in the address that the user submitted in the email field.
  7. And you TCH guys know I'm usually quick to respond ... sorry for my downtime ... just moved in to college!
  8. Instead of %from%, try the name of the field from FP. For example, if you inserted the field in FP and called it Name, then try %Name%. That's my first guess. I'm a pretty avid user of FP by the way. But this question is a little new to me.
  9. If the form is saving to a file, and you don't need it to save to a file (just email), try deleting out the file name in Form Properties so that it doesn't save to a file. Then, try submitting through your form. My problem the other day was that I was using a form that was trying to write results to a file in the main web, and the form was located in a sub domain. FP had not compensated for the change in level in the URL when I moved the page from the main domain to the sub domain. Your problem sounded somewhat famliar ... so try taking out the file name in the form properties.
  10. That's curious, James. Are you certain that FP is not attempting to also write the results to a file on your server? Go to your form, do Form Properties. Look and see if it is trying to write to a text file in the _private folder. If you are using a Confirmation Page to display the results to the user, make sure you have the form configured to the correct confirmation page under the Confirmation Page tab (Form Properties > Options button). On the E-mail Results tab (Form Properties > Options button), in the Email Header section, make sure that information is correct. If you have a "Form Field Name" checkbox that is checked, note that whatever you enter in the field below that must be referring to a field from your form. That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Let me know, JM
  11. Hijack This also has a "post scanning" web page that you're supposed to upload the log to for instantaneous analysis of what it's found. FYI. JM
  12. James, What are you doing with the results of your form? Meaning, are you having the results saved to a file, or sent to an email address, etc? While I am unable to view your post of the log, the problem sounds similar to one I was having the other day. JM
  13. No problem, Don. Good idea. I have several forms created with FrontPage. With my move to TCH, I now have the ability to create subdomains, etc, use then in FP, and have them work on the Internet by going http://xxx.decats.org. I've never been able to do that, so it was exciting. In the past, all of my pages had resided in one web, the main site web. I created new subdomains and copied and pasted the forms pages into the correct subdomain ... so I moved forms that had to do with our "Nomination Process" into the Nominate subdomain, and so forth. However, when I moved these pages, FP did NOT revise the URL for the file that the forms results were saving to. When you move pages into a deeper folder in FP, it usually adds ../ to the front of URLs to files that exist higher up in the web (if you follow me). When you move pages to a subweb (or put pages in a folder and convert it to a subweb), it may or may not delete the ../ that references that CURRENT web. So, what was happening with me is that I moved these form pages into a subdomain in the web, and the form results file URL still looked like ../_private/2006nominations.txt when it should have just said _private/2006nominations.txt so that it would be referring to the text file IN that subdomain. You cannot refer to files in the main domain through URL unless you use the full URL (http://xxx so forth). It's a lot ... I know ... and it was a little bit of a booger to figure out. Also, I went ahead and saved a blank 2006nominations.txt file to the _private folder so that FP would see that the file already existed and would just append form results as they were received. Usually FP will automatically create the file if it does not exist, either when you open and save the forms page or when you submit data through the form. I didn't check to see if FP would automatically do that ... at that point I was just trying to get it to see the file and save the form results, that was the most crucial problem. Hope this helps, though I doubt someone will have a case like this. I've been using FP for nearly 8 years ... I never should have made a mistake like that! Take care. JM
  14. Oh my ... I forgot a cardinal rule in FP. Delete this topic if you can ... problem solved! Sorry to bother.
  15. Installed FP extensions to the main site, then installed them to a few subdomains that I want them running on as well. The domain is decats.org, and a sample domain with a form that isn't functioning correctly is at http://nominate.decats.org The form displays, and when I fill it in and submit, I get a page that informs the user to contact the webmaster and for the webmaster to see the server's system log. Here's what it says in the log: [Wed Jul 27 21:56:36 2005] [error] [client 208.191.169.233] File does not exist: /home/jnkumwe/public_html/_vti_bin/shtml.exe/_vti_rpc [Wed Jul 27 21:56:36 2005] [error] Incorrect permissions on webroot "/home/jnkumwe/public_html/_vti_pvt" and webroot's _vti_pvt directory in FrontPageAlias(). I've tried adjusting some of the folder permissions and reinstalling FP extensions, both to no avail. Any ideas why the form isn't working? Thanks, JM
  16. That did the trick, Marie - exactly what I wanted to do. Points to you!
  17. Thanks. Just wanted to confirm that there was not a way to simply direct it to an already-built page.
  18. Further, do I just need to copy and paste the HTML into the custom error page builder?
  19. Can I define somewhere to load a custom-built error page when an error is encountered? For example, when an Error 404 is encountered by a browser, I would like for the site to load my custom Error 404 page, not a generic one. Thanks.
  20. Just to update y'all... Finally got through the ridiculous problems with NetSol ... DNS is propagating and will be looking to our new home at TCH soon! Once the DNS propagation is successful, I will transfer the domain to TCH. Thanks again everyone for the great assistance.

    Amember

Me again. The website I run is for a summer program. Throughout the year, families complete various processes online through forms ... filling out applications, registrations, choosing courses, etc. It's all very easily accomplished with FrontPage forms that dump to a txt file, then "deciphered" and imported by Excel. However, a few requests over the past couple years have me poking for alternatives again. The main request is that people would like a way to save what they have entered in so far to return to the site later and continue. This would necessitate a log in ... but, it would also need to be able to save what a user has entered in so far and allow them to return later. Would be different for each user. What are the possibilities? I've read here and there mentions of aMember. Is this the answer?
  22. Publishing from FP right now after wiping things out. Got rid of some junk I didn't need. "FrontPage Save Results Component" appears on pages with forms ... looks like that won't be solved until DNS propogation and opening the page / publishing the page through HTTP.
  23. Oh, also ... I plan to switch the domain to TCH as well and get the free year. But ... after all the current headaches.
  24. This kind of attention just doesn't exist anywhere else. Glad to be part of the family! I'll post back here later this week to confirm all happens as planned. Thanks again. This little guy describes the relations with NetSol:
  25. Rick - you are the man! While I've got everything uploaded to the TCH server already, I will take your advice and wipe it, and publish using FP. I'll need to clean up the web some so that I don't transfer a lot of old garbage over. Thanks for the quick responses. And Rick - once I get into the Network Solutions account, switch the DNS, and allow the domain to repropogate, I will be able to hot edit like I always have (via HTTP in FP)? Y'all rule. Hands down.
