Moving to Business forum. I have not tried that one. Have you tried the OSC forums yet? forums.oscommerce.com

Depends on the software. Game server? You cannot do that on shared hosting.

(time to be equal and opposite) reaction

I havent seen a cable but I believe I have seen a device the laptop hard drive slides into so you can connect it to a desktop cable. Google "connect laptop hard drive to desktop" and you can see what I mean.

Or a BIOS setting.

Yes it will. I have done it that way before and I do it to Nuke sites all the time. Make sure you adjust your links as needed.

Yes, you can have them.

As long as they all point to the same place it is unlimited.

Welcome home Lou. Welcome to the forums as well, I am happy you made it.

I guess it depends, if we have deleted it already then there might not be a chance of getting anything back. This is a great example of keeping a local copy of all of your work. The only way to tell will be after the ticket is answered.

I will take the thanks anyway to mean that my answer wasnt quite what you were looking for. For me it isnt just that they only have my domain information, though that is a big deal to me. A problem to me is how easy are they to contact? What if you forget your login information? Am I treated like a customer or am I in the way when I call? If I forget to pay when it comes time to renew, is it shut down right away or do I have a grace period? To me it is more than just where my domain sits between payments. I think so too and as I said, we would be happy to have you here on that front as well.

128 Mine took a couple of days through a third party and installed here total from order to install. In house may be a bit faster. Yes, you must stop using it if you change hosting companies.

Moving to looking for. Your best bet is to explain what you have and what you are trying to accomplish and we can offer what we know. Show us what you are having trouble with one piece at a time and we can give some pointers.

Yes it is. This is subjective. I used to work for the registrar that I use and went with them not only for price but for the service I knew I would get if I had an issue. Kind of the same reason I host here. Not always and in some cases no. Many registrars offer hosting, though it is usually costly or you dont get much in the packages. They offer it but it isnt their primary business and many times I feel you pay for it because they arent concerned as much if there are problems with that part of the operation. Conversely, many hosting companies offer domain registration but are reselling from an accredited registrar. Becoming an accredited registrar is costly so it makes sense to resell, this is what we do. In my opinion, find a registrar that fits your budget and has an easy means of management. Of course we would love to have you come over here with registration as well but more importantly do what you feel comfortable with.
