  1. Wow what a variety of email clients. It almost seems like no more than two people use the same email client around here. I've not used many of these email clients and I'm wondering which of these email clients offer email checks for multiple accounts simultaneously, PGP, spam filter, email templates, IMAP, and with the possibility of using SSL certificates. I've tried using The Bat which seems to host an impressive list of features but I can't seem to get it to connect to my inboxes. And there was no error feedback that I could find on where I've went wrong. I would appreciate very much if any pointers could be given. I'm using IMAPS by the way to connect, using TLS and regular authentication (I'm not sure if the other authentication mechanisms could work). I've been using Pine prior to this but I've decided to hopefully move away from it as it does not provide spam filters and I didn't have to worry about spam in the past due to an ISP spam filter which took care of most of the spam, and partially lucky that I didn't attract any unwanted spam. Is there anybody here who have used Pine and have any further recommendations on what would be a good move away from Pine? Thank you for bearing with me, with this long list of questions. I'm just on the edge of sanity, after having fiddled around with The Bat for a couple of days now.
  2. Oh thank you for the clarification. I understand now. I'll login from the main account username/password then for changes above the 'public_html' directory. It's unfortunate I can't allow someone else to add things above the 'public_html' folder though. Thanks once again! *breathes with relief now*
  3. Wow many thanks for the tips and guidance. The Good Tutorials page is amazing for Adobe Photoshop. And those graphics at Poserpros are so gorgeous. Mine will look like a stickman in comparison. But nevertheless, I have a place now to start from, Good Tutorials. Thanks once again for giving me a good start. PS I've checked out Bryce too and I never knew they had such awesome tools for environmental modelling.
  4. Thanks for the image. Mine was never set to public_html in the client side, CuteFTP. What I see is something as follows: / cgi-bin images etc. Those are folders under the 'public_html' folder in my home directory. However for some strange reason, my FTP is recognising the 'public_html' folder as the root and it's as if my home directory has nothing above 'public_html' when accessed via FTP. I cannot go up one level above this. Meanwhile on the server-side at TCH via the Cpanel... here are the instructions on the FTP Manager, Add FTP Account page. Login: <box here for you to insert stuff> Password: <box here for you to insert stuff> Directory: /home/username/public_html <box here for you to insert stuff> Directions: If you enter a single / in the directory box, the new FTP user will have access to the entire public_html directory and all directories under it. If you just want the new user to be able to access a sub-domain, just set the directory box to the same value as the sub-domain's root name, which is listed in parenthesis on the sub-domain section of this control panel. From the directions, it seems like I can't set an FTP account to access directories higher than my 'public_html' directory. Is this true?
  5. How does one go about creating images to insert into a website? I know this sounds like a pretty silly question but I have absolutely no clue where to start. While I've some vague ideas about how to create textual banners or modify existing vacation photos with pre-made filters... I have not much of a clue how to go about getting pictures for a particular theme, say computers. *pulls hair out* aah! All these while I've been using freely available graphics on the web but I've had pretty little control over the exact kind of graphics that I would like. Any tips and comments would be appreciated deeply.

  7. Maybe I should also add this is what I see when I'm at the FTP Manager in Cpanel. Login: <insert stuff> Password: <insert stuff> Directory: /home/username/public_html <insert stuff> Now it looks like my directory pointer has already been preset to public_html. Is that correct? I've placed a / after that, which I guess naturally would mean that it will set public_html as the starting point and I am not able to go above that. Is there any way of setting it higher than public_html? Another question is: can i use File Manager to transfer files to the upper level? It seems a tad un-user-friendly that I can move my files everywhere except for the root directory.
  8. Yes what I mentioned in my last posting was thru an FTP client... and it's CuteFTP as well.
  9. this authentication is referring to when email and password is being sent to the mail server... it says something about the various standards i could choose and i'm not sure which one to pick... there's plaintext, then there's md5 and apop challenge/response (rfc 1939), also md5 and cram-hmac challenge/response (rfc 2095), and lastly token md5 and cram-hmac challenge/response (rfc 2095). I rather not be choosing plaintext if possible, which options are supported by TCH mail servers?
  10. i think mine's more than just that though unfortunately. in the cpanel, it asks for which directory to put it at, i've put mine at / but when i go in ftp, it doesn't just start in public_html folder... to the ftp program, it's as if the public_html folder is the root folder. i've tried what you've suggested... Move To and then i've inserted forward slash as its destination... the reply was that i cannot move it to the same destination.
  11. hmm may i ask what you set for your ftp account as the directory to start in, the one that you use to access via cuteftp? i've set the directory to point to / although i'm not sure if this is the right thing because when i'm in ftp mode, it leads me to the inside of public_html folder instead and tells me that is the / folder.
  12. Oh cool darn... I never knew that... thanks as well.
  13. I didn't know that about the numbers part too not being able to save.
  14. Just out of curiosity, why is phpBB so much larger than IPB despite my perhaps-misguided impression that IPB has so much more features than phpBB?
  15. You're welcome.
  16. There is no way that I know of. You could send in a ticket and ask the support people to help uncompress it for you on your account.
  17. CHMOD is the command which means Change permissions... If you go to File Manager and click on the folder/file (click on the name and not the icon) that you want to change permissions as per instruction, you will see a list of options on the top left hand corner, one of them allows you to do just that - Change permissions. You will then see a matrix of permissions... type in the correct numbers at the bottom of the matrix to what the script wants you to set it to. Voila. You're set.
  18. If I'm not wrong, blacklisting an email address via spamassassin doesn't mean you automatically reject emails coming form flowgo but it just increases the spam rating of those emails. You would still receive them anyway.. but you can set it up such that they get redirected to the spam folder. As for the second question, I'm not sure but I believe spamassassin works only on the from email address field. I could be wrong.

  20. Is there any way to move files or folders to the topmost folder, that is the / folder, via the File Manager or FTP even? For the File Manager, the only thing I was able to do was to move it into a folder other than /. For FTP, it's even more restricted, I was not able to move anything out of the public_html folder. Please correct me if I'm wrong anywhere on this. Thanks.
  21. What form of authentication does TCH mail servers accept for POP/IMAP? APOP, RPA etc? I tried looking for it in the FAQs but it's not there.
  22. I was reloading the front page again and again, until I saw the postings here.
