When adding a robot.txt to your directory, should it be a robots.txt folder or file and it should be placed in the public_html folder, right? Also, i used a robot text gen. and this is what it has created: is that good enough for a robot.txt file? is there anything i can add that will help draw crawlers and bots to my site?

I have been told by several people to NOT use the automatic search engine submit tools and that if i do, it could have a negitive effect and could possibly cause my url's to be banner by some of the search engines. my sites seem to only be found or crawled by one bot and that is the msn bot. So here is the question. If i am to submit my sites manually, who has a list of the best search engines to submit to? Can we create a running lists of search engines so that not only I, but any other people that might need this info, could have a quick list to pull from? Thank you for any help!

LOL! I wish i would have waited for that reply before i started. While replacing those i came accross what i believe to be the last 2 errors on this page. I think the "absmiddle" should now be "abscenter". Would this be correct? And i am not sure what the error on line 1001 would be.

I used a program NetMechanic on my website and did an html checkon my site. While most of the pages wos fine i had one page that had 249 of the same errors. Not being very smart at web design, i used a pre made template and imputed what i nedded where i needed. I assumed that being a pre made template, that the layout coding would be good, but i must have been mistaken. By any chance does anyone know what this means? i just tried something and now the sites are working. I have my dsl going through a Westell Modem then to a Network Everywhere Router. I unpluged my ethernet cable from the router and went straight from the modem to my computer, not using the router and now the sites work. Could that be a sign my router is going bad? If so, why would only those sites be unaccessable and nothing else?

thanks guys - i still can't get to either one and i have tried IE and Firefox. Some on even told me to so to start>run - type CMD then type ping halorvs.com to ping and it keeps coming back "ping request could not find host halorvs.com. Please check the name and try again." and it keeps doing the same for deathknightsrunescapeclan.com. is it possible that my isp is blocking it for some reason or even a problem with my router? I haven't had this problem with these sites before tonight and i haven't changed any settings. how would i run a trace route or something to find out it something is blocking on my end?

I already have two site hosted with TCH but i have two others hosted elsewhere. I have been having alot of problems over there and they keep telling me it is fixed but it hasn't been fixed. Can anyone reach either of these two site? halorvs.com or deathknightsrunescapeclan.com the showed me they are accessable using http://megaproxy.com/freesurf/ but when i try to access them by their url or ping them, i can't access them. i can't even reach their cpanels. Can anyone else access the sites? I am so tired i think i am gonna bring these two over here also on a reseelers account with the other two. thank for any help.

my site is on server 11 and i can't find invision power board either. under addon scripts are there is, is php and advanced guest book. then under bulletin boards there is only the php installer. is there some place that i have overlooked?

I don't know about the others but i was able to fix my problems with one and two in my whm cpanel. i went and edited the dns zones and change my refresh to 6000 and my expire to 2000000 and this seemed to fix those two errors. if anyone has the answers to the others, i would be interested in the fixes also.

When i try that i get an error that says Nameserver 1 has an invalid TLD.

i went on the advice of a friend and used dnsreport.com and found some errors and i am not sure what they are or how to fix them. Can some one help? First error: FAIL - Missing (stealth) nameservers FAIL: You have one or more missing (stealth) nameservers. The following nameserver(s) are listed (at your nameservers) as nameservers for your domain, but are not listed at the the parent nameservers (therefore, they may or may not get used, depending on whether your DNS servers return them in the authority section for other requests, per RFC2181 5.4.1). You need to make sure that these stealth nameservers are working; if they are not responding, you may have serious problems! The DNS Report will not query these servers, so you need to be very careful that they are working properly. ns1.totalchoicehosting.com.ns2.totalchoicehosting.com. This is listed as an ERROR because there are some cases where nasty problems can occur (if the TTLs vary from the NS records at the root servers and the NS records point to your own domain, for example). Second error: FAIL - Missing nameservers 2 ERROR: One or more of the nameservers listed at the parent servers are not listed as NS records at your nameservers. The problem NS records are: ns5.totalchoicehosting.com. ns6.totalchoicehosting.com. These are just 2 of the errors but i figured i would start here and see if anyone could help. there are more errors on the report that i have saved if it would be easier to post the whole report. shawnhbk, are you wanting to know how many different domains you can have pointing to different sites or all the domains pointing to the one site? As Lisa has said you can "point" unlimited domains but i believe that you can not have any other "add-on" domains pointing to different sites with that account. At least with my $4.00 account i can't have any add-ons unless the recently changed something .

Setting up the BB is simple enough through the cpanel. I have a simple one set up for my site. There are several thousand add-ons you can add to it such as the add attachment hack - custom skins instead of the standard sub-silver almost anything you might want to add to it. From arcade games to stock and weather tickers and fantasy sports and SPAMMER-BEWARE hacks. i have several sites in my a fav. folder that i go to when adding hacks or having someone install them for me. the first script was a php script and for some reason it wouldn't send the form and the second was a perl script, it would send but the fields that we had setup was changed back to the default fields that we had changed when we recieved the email. I have tried to find that gen. again but forgot to bookmark it.

My son is wanting to put a contact form on his website where he can put in his own questions for people to fill out and have the form emailed back to his email addy. I have tried a few of the free contact form gens. without much luck. They seem easy enough but when we set it up on his site we have had 2 different problems. 1. first gen we used the form would not send the form to his email box 2. Second one we tried we input all the fields he wanted on his form but when the email was sent, it still had the default fields instead of the ones he created. Is there anyone that can or would make a contact form for him? Thanks
