Searching For One Of My Posts?
BluegrassGardener replied to BluegrassGardener's topic in Open Discussion
Didn't see that one....Thanks Rob! -
I'm trying to find a post I made yesterday and it's not showing up anywhere. Why was it removed? I did send in a support ticket as advised, but am wondering what rule may have been broken to justify removal of a post I started regarding the servers acting up. Can anyone help?

So What's The Difference?
BluegrassGardener replied to BluegrassGardener's topic in Web Site Promotion
So google does or doesn't see - +www.my-site.com - links as incoming links even though technically they are? Some of those links are internal structure links in the website itself leading to the home page right? What about the other incoming links? Why don't they come up when using link:www.my-site.com? Some of our links were once on the link: list and are now only on the + list of links. What's up with that? Google makes me crazy sometimes -

I'll be here waiting patiently for an answer....tapping my foot...biting my nails...gritting my teeth.... -
Found this Link Popularity Tool while searching for SEO topics. Don't know if it's been posted here or not. Checks several of the top search engines and directories. Simple PHP script can be downloaded and run on your own server so you can access it easily. I did a temporary trial on our site and it works great. It only took maybe 5 minutes total from download to upload to the server. Several other downloadable tools on their site.

So What's The Difference?

.... Rock Sign .....Seems no one knows the answer to this one...Can't even find it on the seo forums anywhere. Saw on a post that it had something to do with PR for inbound links to the site, though can't say I agree with that one. Maybe a GENIUS will figure it out for us. I will have to confirm the results though.... Naughty -
I tried the Marketleap keyword verification tool and it shows us Placed: NO when we certainly come up on the second page for that keyword. This tool could obviously use some tweaking also.

I use google mainly for making sure our pages stay close to the front page of SR. The other SEs just seem to always rank us better than google anyway. Now when I look at backlinks from other websites through google I get a HUGE difference between link:www.my-site.com and +www.my-site.com . Which of these does google actually "read" as far as backlinks? And if they only use link:www.my-site.com as an indicator of backlinks, then what is the use of +www.my-site.com. What do the two tell me about backlinks to my site?

DUH!! Maybe I should put my nerd hat on. I see what I was doing wrong. The path for the file for the search was inside of googleSearch folder. By putting the search script into the page, I was changing where the script was looking for the search files that go with the googleSearch.php file(see URLS above)...outside of the folder...or something like that...helps to sleep on it for awhile. Rather than getting into changing all of the php files, I just moved the few files and the folder into the public_html folder and it solved the whole mystery. I love this stuff! Thank you all for helping me make sense of this. I would have never known about the # in the .htaccess file meaning it ignored the rest of the line and that there were so many variables involved in all of this. Rock Sign

OK I added that without the # and now it's showing on the page...but severely screwed up??
-
Should that be: #AddHandler application/x-httpd-php .htm .html .shtml like everything else or just go down a line and add: AddHandler application/x-httpd-php .htm .html .shtml ??
-
Nope...

The case are correct...I've double-checked that three-thousand times 'til my eyes hurt "Search" is not the actual name of the folder and file - just using it for reference - The"Search" folder is in the ROOT directory and the file is in the "Search" folder. It shows up in the source html for a test page I'm using but not on the page iteself...like it's hidden or something. Here is the working script: h**p://www.bluegrassgardens.com/SearchGoogle/googleSearch.php The page I'm trying to test to take the page is: h**p://www.bluegrassgardens.com/001.html Maybe I'm just not inserting the php code correctly...can anybody check the source and see?? Thanks!

I tried that too with no luck

OK...What are movable type templates?? What I'm trying to do in particular is move a search engine script that is stored on our site inside one of our pages so it will display the results on our website. I may be inserting the code incorrectly. I have tried saving it with .htm and .html exstensions and nothing shows up where the included script should be. If I call the search.php page direct it displays just fine, but I can't seem to get it inside of one of our website pages. I have tried including the page inside a .php page and I get "failed to open stream errors." The include code I am trying to use for the html page is: <?php include ("Search/Search.php");?> I'm really new to php, but this looked quite simple to install. Maybe I was wrong. Any ideas?

I'm trying to put PHP coding into an HTML script. I've heard it is possible and have read the possible fixes to get it to work, but nothing is working. Tried: add this to a .htaccess file or httpd.conf "AddType application/x-httpd-php .htm .html" and inserted the code correctly into the web page...I think Has anyone else done this here successfully? I could really use some help. Thanks!

What Are These Files For And Who's Viewing Them?
BluegrassGardener posted a topic in Open Discussion
I've noticed for the first time...maybe I just haven't been paying attention for the last year??...that I'm getting a lot of hits on these two files: /_vti_bin/_vti_aut/author.exe & /_vti_bin/shtml.exe/_vti_rpc in our Stats. Can anyone tell me what they are for and why all of a sudden they are showing up in our stats with so many hits?? Would they have anything to do with Frontpage requesting authorization from the server every time I open up the application?? Also, I've just transferred two more domains to Total Choice and I noticed that there is no longer a way to manage parked domains through cPanel. Wasn't that an option at one time? And one last thing, please?? The domains I have transferred? Is there a DNS that I can point them to so they don't just lay there dead in cyberdom? Thanks! Brian -
Website Built With Frontpage -- Ie Problems.
BluegrassGardener replied to BluegrassGardener's topic in FrontPage
Mystery solved....I hadn't reinstalled Flash player yet! I have now and it looks and works fine. Is there any way to prevent this from happening to browsers that don't have Flash installed? Thanks.... -
Hi all, Was wondering if someone could help me figure this out. I prefer using Firebird browser, but when my DW visited our site tonight using IE, new index.html windows kept popping up and the Flash logo does not fully show at the top of the screen. I just recently had to restore our computer to factory reinstall and was doing some maintenance earlier today on the index online. I never noticed anything wrong, because our site looks fine in Mozilla browser. Even when I go into our "My Webs" folder and open the index on our computer, the index page keeps on popping up in new windows. Is it a script error on the page? I don't get a script error, but thought maybe someone else could find something related. If anyone else is getting this error in IE, please let us know. Thanks all!

Hiding Virtual Directory In Cpanel
BluegrassGardener replied to BluegrassGardener's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
Thanks Mike....I'll give that a try. You guys are so cool!!!! Rock Sign -
I'm trying to hide our virtual directory where if someone tries to view the contents in the image folder, they will get an access denied type of page. Anyone know how to do this? Would appreciate your help....Also, fixing this to work won't affect hotlinking or anything like that will it?? Rock Sign

I do know that google DEFINITELY uses description tags, keywords I am unaware.
