Ok, i'm flooding this board with questions on Oscommerce. I hope no one's getting annoyed. Ok, in Oscommerce, all the items I am selling are taxable goods. However, if someone from another state wants to buy from me, I dont' want to add sales tax for that customer. I just want to apply the sales tax to the people in my state. Any suggestions?

I don't know what that guy is thinkin', but my experience here has been nothing but stellar. I bought my domain name and started settin' up shop. Being a fairly inexperienced noob, I was glad to see there was a forum here for help. I didn't know I'd have a chance to converse w/ the head guru. I didn't know my most annoying questions would be answered in patience by the forum moderators. I didn't know I'd get all these tools (oscommerce) that would make my web experience even better. All this for the price that TCH offers almost makes me wanna turn into one of those Amway-crazy people...telling them how great my life is because of TCH. Whew, anyway, with good prices, excellent service, quality people helping me out and running this hosting service, I simply don't see how you could bad-mouth TCH, especially if you're not one of their clients. Thanks again TCH.

Ok, so far i've been able to add my logo to the site and change the background colors, however, it would be nice to make some layout changes to the OsCommerce site. The problem is I don't know php well at all. Is there an easy WYSIWYG editor for php that I can use; in the same way Dreamweaver and FP are editors for html? Thank you.

in oscommerce, i created a test account and selected one of my products and tried to check out. I got this error when it tried to calculate shipping "An error occured with the UPS shipping calculations. If you prefer to use UPS as your shipping method, please contact the store owner." I have only UPS as my shipping carrier. Anyone know why this would generate an error by chance? Because there is this error, it won't let me continue on and check out (payment, etc.). Thanks!

excellent. Thanks. I'll do some work with the basic stuff and check out the oscommerce websites for more stuff.

Hi, am I able to customize oscommerce? Things like, changing the colors of the background, inserting my company logo, getting rid of the: >>"This is a demonstration online-shop, any products purchased will not be delivered nor billed. Any information seen on these products are to be treated fictional." << statement that is on the opening page? Thank you.

excellent. did that, and it's working. thanks for your patience with me.

ok, well, i don't mind JS all that much, except the fact that I doubt i'll be able to figure out how to implement it on my webpages.

Hey, i found in the help section (duh) what I need to put in the configure.php file. However, in the help section it asks me to supply my "~username". I might be misunderstanding what it takes to enable shared SSL through TCH. I don't yet own my own certificate for my site. Again, being a newbie, I just don't always know what I should know to set all this up. Anyway, if I need to purchase a certificate first, then set all this up, then I'll look into that. Otherwise, I believe I've just tried to jump into something that I just don't understand well enough yet.

Sorb Computers that's the link that will get you to the oscommerce stuff. Let me know if you see something screwy. Thanks.

Hi, I'm trying to setup the OsCommerce stuff as well. Once i go to checkout, it gives me the a "cannot find server" page right after i download the certificate. I'm a newbie here, so I understand that I could easily be missing something very obvious. Any help would be appreciated. I have changed the configure.php file to exactly what you posted above. Is there something else I need? Thank you.

Ok, here's the deal. I am working on a computer component selection form and I want to use drop-down boxes. For instance: Drop Down box including "AMD" and "INTEL". If they choose "INTEL", this limits the next drop-down box (hopefully below the first one) to "Celeron" or "Pentium 4" processors. Then the next drop down box below is limited to motherboard that are only Pentium4-based or Celeron-based. Anyone know how I should do this in Frontpage? I'm really at a loss here, but I think this would save me from having to make 45 different pages with 20 configurations on each page. Anyway, if you could help, i'd be very appreciative.

CSS, gotcha. Thank you. I'll do a little research and see what I can find. So they were using tables, huh...ok, well i guess it was a bad example, but yes, thank you for helping me out.

Hey all, so far my experience w/ TCH has been excellent. I've only been onboard here for a couple weeks, but I do feel like family here. It really is great. I'm just starting out here and I'd like to ask for some advice. my website is Sorb Computersand I've actually uploaded a very basic site that is most definitely a work in progress, so if links don't work, that's probably why. Here's my question(s): As you can see from this website (http://www.globuscomputer.com), there is a navigation "bar" on the left side of the page, information (w/ links) in the middle of the page, and "Specials" on the right side of the page. I want to do something similar to that on my site, but the only way I can get information to be spread across like that is by using tables. Am I simply missing something that is really easy here, or are tables the only way to solve this? Any help would be appreciated. If you take a look at my main page on my site, i've split things up by using a table. I'd prefer to not have to use tables if I can, and from what I am seeing, surely there's a way to do it. Ok, I'll stop rambling. Thank you!

I'd like my site posted there. However, it's not up yet, so i'm sure you'd rather not have a bad link on your page. This week, however, I'll have my site up. www.sorbcomputers.com Again, nothing is there yet, but it will soon.

yes, i'll be signing up as soon as the order page lets me!

Awesome...man, this is gonna rock. How about what I said about the Frontpage thing? This question might best be answered later on. Regarding the uploading thing...when I update my pages, I presume I'll be uploading my FP pages to the server (ftp?), correct? That's how things worked at my last place of business. Anyway, you've been a great help so far, I appreciate it. Thank you.

Hey, that sounds great. I own Frontpage 2003 and I would love to use that as a web-editing tool, then upload the pages to the server. Regarding the ecommerce stuff that I'm wanting to do; is that tool you spoke of an additional fee that I would have to purchase, or is it inclusive in one of the packages? Here's what I'd like to do: design my own website and make updates as I see fit, but leave the underlying ecommerce section untouched (i don't wanna screw it up, basically). Do you see this as being a problem? Basically I don't wanna purchase the wrong package and afterwards realize the mistake I made. I'm just trying to get the most information as possible. Thank you for your reply. I hope my questions don't sound too elementary or redundant.

I'm starting a small computer consulting business. The plan is to start small and maybe if it all works, use this as my primary business. What I need now is a website that can house all the info I need for placing configurations of computer systems, servers, networks, etc. on the site and having a way for someone to place orders on my site. I don't have or plan on getting a merchant account. I'll probably use Paypal for the time being. Anyway, what I'd like is: 1) a way to have the customer choose a configuration 2) send an email to me with the exact configuration 3) bill their credit card to my paypal account (doesn't have to be automatic, the can do that themselves) 4) send them a confirmation email of their order Now, to me (being inexperienced at web design), this sounds like an incredibly daunting task. Am I right with this, or will I be able to use this web hosting site to accomplish this?
