The image it is supposed to display is "motiveforcecover.jpg" and it should be in your public_html folder along with your web pages. Is it? Second this is a Linux server so if the file name has any capital letters in it they should be reflected in the HTML. Well I just re-read your post and you say the case is correct for the file name. Since I can't see the contents of the public_html folder does this help?

subdomains are great for breaking up your web site in to smaller more managable sections. Say you have your main site information (pretend you are selling a product, if you are not for this example). So when people come to your site they enter http://yoursite.com Now say you offer demos or other downloads. You could create a subdomain for easier access demos.yoursite.com And then you offer documentation or literature and you create a subdomain for that lit.yoursite.com That's just an example of how you could break up your site to make it more managble. You could also just create the folders to put your content in and access it using http://yoursite.com/demos Does that help?

Moving to a better forum for organization.

Rob, you win! You are allowed to have unlimited sub domains on your account. You cannot however go out and purchase a new domain name and point it to your newly created sub domain (unless you have a reseller plan).

You could be missing a quote or semi-colon. If you can't resolve the issue yourself please open a help desk ticket and ask one of the techs to have a look. Or you could post your script here and let other forum members have a peek. Comment out any sensitive data like user names and passwords.

Rob is correct. Use the editor in cPanel's file manager or use a text editor on your own machine like Notepad. Remember to upload the file in ASCII mode and not Binary.

They are supposed to be but it's possible when you installed IPB it created the folder with a different owner. Shouldn't have, but looks like it did. Glad he sorted it out for you. I thought it was an ownership problem but I couldn't figure out how to get my CuteFTP configured to show me the owner value. So for that you would have required shell access which you do not have.

Probably the attachments. Since he's running Linux he wouldn't get infected.

This is just my opinion but I envision a blog as something that a single person adds content to with the exception of comments to the content added. A forum on the other hand is more of a community endeavor where anyone can start a topic (content). Although you can restrict others from starting topics. It depends on what you are looking to do. I have a forum set up for support on my site since it's a shareware software site. My wife has set up a forum for family members to stop by and share what's going on with them since our family is spread out over two countries and she also has a blog that she uses to post her daily musings. So you don't have to limit yourself to one or the other.

Yes, you can replace that image with one of your own. It's called logo_phpbb.gif and is located in the "images" folder of the template you are using.

Thomas, I am curious. What version of IPB are you running? I have 1.3 installed on my site but there is no "css" folder. I have a "cache" folder.

Well, you should never open attachments from an email address you don't know. And even if you get an attachment from someone you do know you should still run it through a virus scan before opening it.

No, you don't need shell access to do that. Just reply to the ticket and tell him you cannot change permissions on the file you are trying to chage permissions on. Are you trying to change them with file manager or an ftp client?

The file doesn't need to be 777 it should be 666. Read/write for everyone.

Thomas, when are you getting this error? When trying to update (save) the changes? Have you changed the permissions of the cache folder (777) and the .css file (666) before trying to update? You need to do this temporarily before making the changes and then change them back. If file manager or your ftp client won't allow you to make those changes please open a help desk ticket and have one of techs have a look. You should be able to change perms on those.
