  1. You cannot move the folder you have to move the contents of the folder. I would suggest that you use an FTP program and download everything in the "wordpress" folder to your computer. And then upload it all to your public_html folder.
  2. The content within the "wordpress" folder is your Wordpress installation. If you move the contents of that folder to your root folder "public_html" it can be accessed by going to your domain link.
  3. Question for those of you that have upgraded to version 2.2 of Wordpress. When you are writing a post is your categories list displaying properly? I have converted 4 blogs of 8 so far. Two of them the categories appear as they should. The other two they appear like this. ><!--enp_cat_start-->Cameras<!--enp_cat_end--> Each category I have defined appears like this. It's not parsing the list properly. Any ideas?

  5. Everything in the "wordpress" folder (it's the folder that contains all your wordpress info) should be moved to the "public_html" folder if you want to access your Wordpress site with your domain name. It can also be accomplished my modifying your .htaccess file but I have never done it that way.
  6. Welcome to the forums Joao You should subscribe to the forum Thomas linked to be notified if there are issues with your server. Also to the other forum to be notified if there are issues with the data center.

  8. You can change some settings through the config file. You can access the config file through File Manager in cPanel. Go into the tmp/awstats folder of your domain. Find the awstats.you-TCH-domain.conf file and edit it. Make a backup copy first! Once you tailor it to your like, change the file permissions to 444 so it is not overwritten. You can also delete monthly logs using the File Manager.

  10. Wordpress is a database driven program. Your pages are served from a database using a template. There are no static pages that you can view through cPanel. In your example: The first link would take you to a post or page with a post slug of top-ten-reasons that would be tagged as being in the advice category (providing your blog was in your root [public_html] folder). The second line would take you to a post slug of top-ten-reasons with no category (which you can't do so it would have to be defined as a page and not a post). I don't know any better to explain how a blog works. It may not work for what you want to do. I have never tried (or think it's possible) to use subdomains within Wordpress. Usually Wordpress is installed in the root of your domain (public_html) or a folder (set up as a subdomain) inside the public_html folder.

  12. Have you tried seeking help on the Movable Type forums? And have you checked your configuration settings. There must be something that is turned on or maybe a plugin you are using is keeping the commenter's first comment in moderation for you to approve.
  13. I'm giving up on the Tiga theme. It broke on my test site. I am so tired of having to redo (or ask for help) the theme files every update. Off to look for a new theme!
  14. Mike you may not need the "Sidebar Widgets" any longer as it is built into the new WP.
  15. Ok, now you got me worried. I was going to try upgrading tomorrow. I'll let you know if I have any issues.
  16. Welcome to the forums Tom
  17. Welcome to the forums Monsteroids Do you have a widescreen monitor? That would result in the different viewport. My work monitor is a 17" widescreen (not my choice for web work but good for movies) and it is 1440x900
  18. When there is a problem it will be posted in that forum. Sorry that has not been updated to reflect all the new servers. Please be patient while we grow, it will be updated as time permits. That was the old tchstatus page and I do not know if that will return or not. Most likely it will be replaced with something better. Again we are going through some growing pains with moving servers to our own datacenter. For as long as I have been a customer here I have never seen a server down for an extended period of time that a notification was not placed in the appropriate server forum. If you have subscribed to particular forums and are not receiving notifications what email address are you using? I never use my TCH hosted email for receipt of these notices. If my server does go down and they post in my server's forum I would not receive it. Also be sure where ever you are directing the notifications to go is not treating them as spam and discarding them. Not being able to enter your Skype ID is because this is an Invision Power Board and they didn't think to include a field to store that info. Not that we can't add it to our database and add a field for it. Hope that helps.
  19. In the wp-config.php file you need to modify these values to refect your database, user and password. In the above example: Replace your-cpanel-name with your actual cpanel ID Replace datebase-name with the database name you created Replace user-name with the user name you added to the database Replace password with the password you created for the user accessing the database The your-cpanel-name_ is required.

  22. Please tell us what you are installing to your hard drive? What OS are you running? Do you have a web server and mysql running on your computer? Just remove all the wordpress stuff on the TCH server you placed there and delete any databases you created for wordpress and users you added for those databases. Then go into cpanel select Fantastico and select Wordpress, tell it what folder you want to install it into and fill out your email address and any other info it asks for. It will install automatically and you'll be ready to go. It shouldn't take more than 30 minutes to get this cleared up.
  23. "wrdp1" looks like something Fantastico would create. Have you tried installing with Fantastico and then again manually?
