I think to get the main account Cpanel theme changed you will need to submit a help desk ticket.
-
ok, I stopped being lazy and went to the other computer and logged into my WHM. Go to Modify Account and select the account you want to modify and click Modify and then choose a new Cpanel Theme. I think you will prefer bluelagoon or may be monsoon.

Hi DPK, I cannot access my WHM at the moment (don't have the password with me) but I believe when you create an account in WHM you can choose the skin for cpanel for that account... You might try editing the account information (in WHM) and see if you can change skins. I am afraid I don't remember which skin is the one that is "more text, less icon" You know...that probably wasn't all that helpful, but maybe it will put you on the right path ;P.

Again, this could be dumb question, but that looks like a log from Pure-FTP, which is a separate application, correct? That article makes it sound like Dreamweaver keeps it's own FTP log. I am officially running out of questions

Are you sure you don't have a firewall? What are you using for security at home? I noticed, in that article I linked, in one of the screen shots it has a check box for Use Firewall, have you tried this? Looks like the setting are under Preferences. Have you tried that troubleshooting article? Looked at the Dreamweaver MX FTP Log? Sounds that the log could help diagnosing the problem.

If that is your real password, I would edit that post and remove it!

Steve, I don't know if you saw the addendum to my previous post, but, I am getting an error when going to that domain.
-
Let me ask some (probably stupid) questions. 1) Do you have a firewall that could be causing a problem? 2) It sounds as if you are not getting an error message or anything, so does Dreamweaver think it IS connected? What are you expecting to see that you are not? (remember I don't have Dreamweaver, so I don't know) 3) Have you checked the permissions on that file(s) to make sure that Dreamweaver can read the info? 4) Have you downloaded the file(s) that Dreamweaver puts on the server and viewed it locally to see if Dreamweaver has uploaded the correct info? If Dreamweaver uploaded the file with the connection info (in the beginning) and when you changed the info, Dreamweaver wasn't able to over-write the file then you would never get it to work. Steve, Why can I not get to your site at all? If I go to amfmechanical.com I get a 500 Internal Server Error.

I don't get the WSJ, but I think I know what you are talking about. Head on a plain background? I maybe able to help you out with that if you are not in a real hurry (like sometime tomorrow). If that is fast enough, I can PM you an email address. Is the photo digital, or a scan?

Hi Steve, I know what you are going through is very frustrating, but don't forget that most everyone here on the forum are volunteers and we are just trying to help you. I don't use Dreamweaver so I cannot try connecting myself to see if I can find the magic formula, so I wandered over to Macromedia's Dreamweaver forum to see if I could find anything to help you. I saw quite a few posts from people having problems getting a connection working, so you are not alone. You might try searching over there too. I did find this link to an article on Troubleshooting the Dreamweaver MX MySQL Connection. http://www.dreamweavermxsupport.com/index.php?type=article&id=85&block=1&pid=60&sid=61 I hope that it helps! Good luck and let us know! GroovyFish

Hi Steve, Your Cpanel name is the same as your login to cpanel. So if your login to cpanel is xyz123 and you named your database "mydb" the actual database name will be: "xyz123_mydb". Same goes for the database username: if your set up your database user to be steve, the actual database username will be: "xyz123_steve". Don't forget after creating your database and the database user, you must add the user to the database. You might want to read through this post: http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/forums/i...?showtopic=1803 it's a couple years old but I would imagine that it would pretty much remain the same. Read the whole thing, the first post says you must contact the Help Desk, but if you read to the bottom, you will find that it is not necessary.

Hi Bruce, Joomla is a fork of Mambo. Long story here, but all the developers that were at Mambo are now at Joomla. Sergio, I have installed and run both Drupal and Mambo here with no problem. I have also installed XOOPS and had it up and running, but I didn't care for it.
-
Hi Sergio, I myself use both Drupal and Mambo/Joomla. A good place to see the popular CMS programs (and you can also try them out there) is http://www.opensourcecms.com/ HTH!

Congratulations!

Hi Jack I don't think it should be 744, try setting the permissions on the edit directory to 755.

Good Morning! When you created the database, did you also create a user and add the user to the database? If not, re-read TCH-Don's post above. He outlines all the steps you need to follow when setting up a database, and how to enter that information when you install.

Hi Benny, Welcome to the forums! If you are trying to install the Digital Cambist software, their site indicates that they will install it for free at the bottom of their features page. Hope that helps!

I would agree, for a public forum, I would rather that people only be able to contact me via PM.

Not sure if it is a setting or a mod, but when I registered at joomla, I had the option to hide my email address from members. (which I did enable).

Regarding high-volume sites using SMF. Joomla* just launched it's forum using SMF on August 11th, 2005 has 4136 members and over 37,000 posts and I find it to be really quick and seems to handle the volume very well. *Joomla is the "continuing development" of Mambo...long story here, and I still don't understand all the details of the split. Hi Paul, Wish I could help! Just wanted pass along my sympathies. I went through something similar two weeks ago. Turned out my wireless card was dying and finally gave up the ghost after about 2 days worth of trying everything to fix it. It received a less than dignified burial between the coffee grounds and banana peels.

I would proceed with caution. I have seen some of these sites selling Adobe products at deep discounts, and if you look at the fine print you find out that what they are actually selling is a "back-up copy" of the program and that you should have your own license.

I haven't tried most of those. I have tried phpBB and it was ok. I like Simple Machines much better. I had it installed, setup and in use in about two hours. Just using it out of the box, only two mods (for fun). Runs great, but we are certainly not stessing it out (only 10 members -- a group of my friends), so I don't know how it runs at a higher volume of visitors.

I have to share this story that happened to me tonight. I was reading a blog that I go to frequently, and there was a story about another blogger who's mother in law was missing due to the hurricane. She's in a nursing home in New Orleans and was fine after the hurricane, but the nursing home had to be evacuated and they didn't know where to and were extremely worried. They had contacted multiple people, state agencies, etc and no one new where this nursing home had been evacuated to. After leaving the blog, I went to another blog that happened to have a link to nola.com, which has forums people have been using to gather information on missing people, state of the areas they used to live in, etc. I was curious, so I went there. I stumbled across information on the same nursing home where the woman above was at, and where they had been evacuated to. I, of course, immediately posted the information on their blog, and...since they posted their phone number, I called them. About an hour later, I got a call back from Vicky, thanking me (ALOT) because she found her mom based on that information I found. You can read the original post here: http://overtaken.blogmosis.com/archives/029211.html Their update is at the top, original post below..and mine is the 4th comment. You know, my husband and I have already made a donation to Red Cross, but I been feeling like I need to do more. Little did I know that I would be able to help someone while sitting on my couch...in my pajamas. The internet is an amazing thing...
