As we prepare for the launch of our new and improved Server Status Pages there are a few changes we will be making. The largest impact to customers will be that access to the status pages will now be protected. We have setup a customer verification process that will allow you to obtain full access to the server status pages. *Changing policy on how we will get customers access to pages*. Hi there Sincraft! Unlimited SQL dB's within your space. However, remember there are limits on how much processing power you can use from the server. These are dealt with on a case by case basis. Our administration offices are located in the USA. However we do have servers located in the United Kingdom. I don't have a number of dollars we donated last year, it is not a per client number. However, I did approve several donations to USA based charities. In fact last year, TCH donated 15 computers to a local school. Stats are updated daily. A silly mistmake was made today. A moderator of our's left due to other commitments. It was sad that she left, but we understand that is how things go. Today we wanted to change her name from TCH_Lisa to her old name, from before she became a moderator. Mike, thought it would be best to simply delete her current username and re-add her new name. He wasn't aware that the forums would delete the entire account including all her posts. The forum software did just that. So with this mistake we wiped out 1,300+ posts to our forums. We really do not have much choice at this point. If we restore backups, we would loose all the new posts from his mistake until now. So that really is not an option. I have our best level 2 technician looking at a backup from yesterday in a vain attempt to restore just her posts and user details. I will repost when I know more. Bill

Bob, It may have been in effect for several months, however it was only effect in selected service regions for deployment testing reasons. In fact it still has not been fully deployed. I have a business class DSL connection in my home, and never had a problem until last night, when with no reason my outbound email stopped working. After some research it was determined that SBC started blocking port 25. Bob you state "Its a pain for some folks but was a necessary decision" Whilst I respect your view, I do not agree. In my view it is the JOB of an ISP to give access to the internet and all that is internet, not block certain areas. While sure they allow outbound mail thru their own servers, many people do not want to use the ISP's servers. However, with the spread of windows based Virus's this is becoming more and more popular. The number of people still running infected machines, without up to date anti-virus programs is amazing to me. Just my 2 cents. Bill

I do agree but sometimes you just cant wipe things clean. Some situations require the patience and wit to follow thru to a clean system. I commend the guy for having the time and knowledge to get it done. Bill

We have ran into a couple clients that starting having issues sending e-mail. After investigation it has turned out that a major ISP has started blocking outbound e-mail ports. Thats a very broad statement and also not true. If the statement were true than Windows would not be where it is today. Windows works, it works with the majority of computers, the majority of peripherials, and the majority of software programs. Thats why people use it and thats why its on top. There are bugs in the program or holes. They are in all programs and some "people" are using these holes to commit illegal acts. They are either writing programs to cause damage to computers or they are writing them to get you to buy some product or steal your money. The bottom line is money. Early on in the PC world it was requested by the "users" to make things easier. These users were the Tech support folks who Beta tested and had to support the program back at the job. They had hundreds and thousands of potential other computer users that were going to need to use the computers at their desk to do a job. The cost of setting this up increased the longer it took for something to work. So MS made things easy based on customers request, plug it in and it should play. But in making it easy they also made it easy for the bad guys to also make it work the way THEY wanted. Now with all the hijackings and Virus's and Trojans out there, people are looking for blame, who's responsible. MS knew what it was doing so its their fault. I don't agree with this logic. Criminals will find ways to reach their goal and will use whatever works. These holes work for them and they are everywhere and they produce big results. Lets attack this problem on three fronts. MS needs to tighten up the holes, the Government needs to prosecute the criminals who are exploiting these holes, and the Business community should not reward the virus writers with high paying security jobs and speaking fees or book deals. If there is no profit they will move elsewhere. Bob, That is a very insightful post. I agree with every point you have made.
