I have two domains registered (evankrocker.ws and evankrocker.net). I am using the .WS domain with my TCH hosting. Can I have the .NET domain forward to the .WS domain? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If you are asking when someone enters your .NET domain in a web browser you want it to display your .WS domain content the answer would be yes.

You need to open a Help Desk ticket and request that the .NET domain be parked on your .WS domain.

Moved for organization.

Can I do that myself? I saw a section in my control panel for domain parking. Do I need to goto GoDaddy and add the nameservers for the WS domain?

The options in CPanel are only enabled on Reseller accounts. To park a domain you should change the nameservers at the registrar to ns1.totalchoicehosting.com and ns2.totalchoicehosting.com and then open a Help Desk ticket and let us know the domain you wish to have parked. Someone there will park it for you.

I currently have a domain mikewoolley.com that is pointed to your name servers at GoDaddy and points to my web site hosted by you. I have another domain that I want to also point to that web site. I'm confused about the difference between going to GoDaddy and telling them to Forward my domain to www.mikewoolley.com vs. doing what you said to do here (i.e. point the 2nd domain to your name servers and submitting ticket to have it "parked" by you on my mikewoolley.com domain). Are there advantages to doing it one way vs. the other?

If we park it on your domain here you would be able to create email accounts for either domain name. Also, if domain xyz.com is forwarded to abc.com from the registrar I believe the browser will show abc.com as the address. If it is parked it would show xyz.com.

Ok... for give my slowness...

If I have two domains and I want them access separately...

www.abc.com --> www.abc.com

www.xyz.com --> www.xyz.com

I have to have a reseller account, correct?

If I want both domains to go to the same URL, I need to park it with a help ticket request.

www.abc.com --> www.abc.com

www.xyz.com --> www.abc.com

Am I getting this right?

I have a similar question about multiple websites on one account. I'm pretty sure I saw somewhere (other than this forum thread) that TCH doesn't allow more than one website on one account, but I can't find the spot I first read that.

Right now, I have one domain & website hosted with TCH. Then I also have another domain forwarded and masked (through Go Daddy) to a subdirectory of my "legit" TCH account for a separate website. I wasn't sure if this would work, but it does. However, I don't want to get in trouble with TCH. I'm just waiting for someone to definitively say "you can't do that - get a separate TCH account."

I'm coming clean here about what I'm doing, but otherwise how do you stop people from doing what I've described? I mean, is it really that bad? Yeah, it's more than one website, but I'm the webmaster of both of them (I'm not a reseller) and I'm just using my own allotted disk space and bandwidth.

Please advise. Thanks.

From the Acceptable Use Policy page.

Web Sites

TotalChoice Hosting provides storage space and access for web sites through its Web services. TotalChoice Hosting will not routinely monitor the contents of your web sites. You may only host one domain per virtual account; resellers are allowed to host unlimited domains

So to answer your question, you are not allowed to do that. You need a separate account for the second domain.

OK... a little less technical of an answer than I was looking for, but I guess it's pretty much irrelevant anyway. You have your ways.

On a somwhat unrelated note, your hosting service has been very reliable and your pricing is obviously excellent. However, I have a gripe with the design of your website - it's kind of difficult to determine where to find help. There are too many seemingly overlapping options:

Web Hosting FAQ

Web Hosting Help Site

Web Hosting Family Forum

Web Hosting Support

Web Hosting Help Desk

What's what? I have no idea (without digging through each one). That's partially why I couldn't go back and find the original spot where I saw the rule about one domain per account (hindsight being 20/20, it's obvious I should have looked at the AUP link, though my whole point is that there are so many options I couldn't remember where I saw it). Those catagories really ought to be consolidated into more obvious choices. Two of them (FAQ and Family Forum) are obvious enough (although "Family" Forum is kind of strange... seriously, I like you guys and all, but I don't feel like we're family) but then what the heck is the difference between "Help Site," "Support," and "Help Desk"? Once you look at each link they're obviously different, but they should be categorized and named in a manner that it's obvious just by looking at the links. Help Site really ought to be combined with the FAQ. I've always been annoyed that your "FAQ" is just one of many categories listed under Help Site. They're all FAQs! You should call that whole help site section the FAQ section and make the current FAQ just a "general" category under the FAQ section (and get rid of one of the links from the front page). And then Support and Help Desk (and perhaps even Contact Us) should be combined into one link. There are a lot of ways to get a hold of you guys... make it easy and list them all concisely on one page.

Just my $0.02... well, more like a dollar now. So I'll stop here. :)

Jeff, thanks for your comments. The TCH website is currently being redesigned. And a lot of what you say has been addressed.

And sorry I didn't welcome you to the family in my first reply so I will do it now.

:) Welcome to the family, Jeff! :(

Very nice, very nice.

That's quite all right... I wasn't expecting it!

How soon is this new site supposed to be up?
