steve1 Posted March 31, 2004 Posted March 31, 2004 I was wondering why there is such a difference between yahoo and googles ratings. My site is http://www.reiki-seichim-masters-australia.com/ and when I look up "reiki australia" in yahoo I get a top rating. When I lookup "reiki australia" in google I am about 25th. Why so different and how can I raise my rating in google. Steve Rock Sign Quote
Deverill Posted March 31, 2004 Posted March 31, 2004 Google is going through a lot of changes now with the recent algorithm changes, hopefully aimed at stopping spam, their emphasis on Froogle and the new features such as local.google.com and the personalized searching. Bottom line is that a program such as what runs Google is a massively, finely balanced machine and they just swapped out the 20 inch tires for massive monster truck tires so everything has to find its place again and settle down. Eventually they should be back to "normal." Also consider that Google and Yahoo! are different companies with different agendas so they will never be the same. Maybe Yahoo! wants to reward their Yahoo! Stores folks and Google wants to stop SE Spammers. That in itself would make a difference, besides the fact that they run different programs with all those nuances. Personally, I'm in the top 20 on about a dozen search engines for one site but on Google I bounce between 130 and "greater than 500". Some say that Google's broke. I agree. Quote
DarqFlare Posted April 1, 2004 Posted April 1, 2004 I'm doing well on Google.. I never did bother to check other engines though. Maybe I'll do that... Quote
dsdemmin Posted April 5, 2004 Posted April 5, 2004 Since Yahoo broke away from Google their ranking results have revealed an algorithm that is much more dependant upon ‘on page’ characteristics (i.e. meta tags, keyword frequency, etc.) then Google's algo. Quote
