JohnQM Posted March 14, 2004 Posted March 14, 2004 Hello I'm trying to get my site working with parked domain names which do NOT use the DNS servers of TCH, but the one from namecheap.com instead. When I type www.o55.net, which is one of my parked domains, I always get "There is no website configured at this address" (a message generated by TCH) At namecheap, I only configured a A record with IP 69.93.215.165, which is the IP of the server where www.topdate.be is hosted at TCH. Because this was not working, I created a ticket for this and Aromal kindly told me that change occurs only at the nameserver and the zones will be loaded only after it expires at the nameservers in the internet network. BUT if I replace the IP with the one of my home computer, it works without problem. I can type https://wm.o55.net and I get the webmail from my computer! (Here, ik take wm as host and not www) So I guess, but I'm not sure, that what Aromal told is not totally correct for my situation. My conclusion, is that I think there should be something else to configure, either at TCH or either at namecheap. Can be something with host name resolving, reverse lookup, ... I don't know. Please note I only can set A, CNAME and MX record. Thanks you very much for helping me out. Fabian Quote
MikeJ Posted March 14, 2004 Posted March 14, 2004 You probably just aren't seeing your changes yet. For example, from my home: >[snowdog:~] mike% host www.o55.net www.o55.net has address 63.251.83.54 [snowdog:~] mike% host www.o55.net dns1.name-services.com Using domain server: Name: dns1.name-services.com Address: 63.251.163.102#53 Aliases: www.o55.net has address 69.93.215.165 Note if I lookup www.o55.net, I'm still getting cached information, but if I query your nameserver, I get the correct updated info. You will just have to wait awhile for DNS caches to expire and renew. Quote
TCH-Rick Posted March 14, 2004 Posted March 14, 2004 The DNS Zone is not the only file that needs to be updated to park a domain. There also has to be an httpd.conf entry and that will have to be done through the Help Desk. You should submit a ticket and provide the domain names you wish to park and we will park them. Quote

Thanks for you reply. At this moment, in cpanel, under parked domains, I see 3 additional domain names pointing to my existing hosting account. Is that the change that you mean in httpd.conf? To be sure we are talking about the same thing. for me a parked domain: -allow users to also reach my website when entering the "parked" or "pointed" domain into their browsers -will make it possible for me to have more than just one domain name for my website I'm correct? Thanks JohnQM Quote
DarqFlare Posted March 14, 2004 Posted March 14, 2004 Just updating that I can access www.o55.net just fine. Quote
JohnQM Posted March 16, 2004 Author Posted March 16, 2004 Just a short to say that everything is working fine now and that I really appreciate all the EXCELLENT support coming from TCH. I'm on internet since 1994 and worked with several hosting companies, but TCH is really surpassing all the others that I tried in terms of support and price/quality ratio. Continue doing the good job! JohnQM Quote
