It appears that totalchoice isnt' doing reverse DNS lookups. is this normal. my other hosting company did it. when I try and run a reverse dns on my server IP i get:

>>>

Asking i.root-servers.net for 127.87.246.64.in-addr.arpa PTR record:

i.root-servers.net says to go to GINSENG.ARIN.NET. (zone: 64.in-addr.arpa.)

Asking GINSENG.ARIN.NET. for 127.87.246.64.in-addr.arpa PTR record:

ginseng.arin.net says to go to NS2.INTELLISPACE.NET. (zone: 87.246.64.in-addr.arpa.)

Asking NS2.INTELLISPACE.NET. for 127.87.246.64.in-addr.arpa PTR record: Timed out. Trying again.

Asking NS2.INTELLISPACE.NET. for 127.87.246.64.in-addr.arpa PTR record: Got unknown response (rc=0 an=0 type= err=).

Answer:

Unknown.

I know that it won't be associated with my domain name, but shouldn't it be associated with totalchoice's domain name(s)?

I also ran ns9 and ns10 through www.dnsreport.com and they had several red and yellow areas. But today when I try and run the same test I get the below:

ERROR: The parent servers say that the domain ns9.totalchoicehosting.com does not have any NS records (although they may have some other information on that zone). I can not do a DNS report on a hostname (such as mail.example.com) or a domain name that does not have its own zone.

We have reverse DNS setup on all our main server IP addresses except server14 and totalchoicehosting.com's main IP. We are adding the info for reverse DNS to these IPs. The reason you are getting no records when you search for ns9 or ns10 is that they do not have their own DNS zones, they are under the zone of 'totalchoicehosting.com'. We know that there are two red areas for this domain, and we are fixing this by changing the nameserver for the do,main to match the one's in the DNS records.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
