svl2706 Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 Hi, I currenlt own some silver accounts hosted by TCH and am very pleased with them! Great service! Some of my customers or relatives would like to work with us and have the same kind of service... it's obvious to us that we will need to manage a reseller account. My questions are the following: I already own myprofsite.com and hosted it on a silver account here. I also own myprivatesite.be and anotherprivatesite.com with 2 separated silver accounts. - Is it possible to "change" or upgrade the myprofsite.com account into a reseller account (that would be the parent) and then to add the other ones below the same account? if yes, what will happen to the 3 silver hosting? shall I cancell them? - Is it automatically done when I'll move the DNS to the new place? - can I have some ns1.myprofsite.com and ns2.myprofsite.com dns info for professional use? - will there be any difference in the administration of features of the children domain (myprivatesite.be and anotherprivatesite.com and the next ones)? thanks for your help!!! regards, Stéphane Quote
TCH-Andy Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 Hi, Yes, you can upgrade myprofsite.com to a reseller - just submit a ticket to the support desk, and we'll take you through the process. Once we have upgraded that, ask us to transfer the domains you already have across to the reseller account. You can then cancel the plans for them. There will be no need to change the DNS as we will change it on our nameservers. Yes you can have branded nameservers (although not on the simple reseller account). All the accounts you create will then be admisistered with cpanel, exactly as they are now. Quote
svl2706 Posted February 18, 2004 Author Posted February 18, 2004 Hi Andy, thanks for you answer it seems it will be the best solution for me! I still have one question though. The current domains DNS are pointing to ns1.totalchoicehosting.com. If I sign up for a deluxe reseller account like I intend to do, I'd like to have all domains pointing to ns1.myprofdomain.com (for instance). Shall you do the name change? will you also migrate the data etc... shall I have to redo all configuration (mail boxes creation etc...) for all those domains? Must I foresee some down time for those migration? I currently own 3 domains hosted by TCH in addition to the main domain and I intend to make come 2 extra ones hosted by another hosting company. Cheers, S. Quote
TCH-Andy Posted February 18, 2004 Posted February 18, 2004 Hi, Just add a ticket into the support desk, and we'll sort it out for you. Since they are all on our servers, there will be virtually no down time for the moves / change of DNS. If you provide us with all the cpanel information we will transfer the domains for you - so no, you don't need to reset email accounts etc. Quote
DarqFlare Posted February 18, 2004 Posted February 18, 2004 You will need to reconfigure your cron jobs when you upgrade... There was something else you have to set back up, but I don't remember what it was... Quote
svl2706 Posted February 19, 2004 Author Posted February 19, 2004 Hello, what does "cron jobs" mean??? tks S. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted February 19, 2004 Posted February 19, 2004 "cron jobs" are scripts that run unattended at a specified time. Useful for having the system perform backups in the middle of the night when traffic is at a minimum. Welcome to the family, Stéphane! Quote
