I'm having an odd problem. I send a large amount of email to someone with an Earthlink account. A significant portion of the mail I send her through TCH's servers does not reach her. One of three things happen:

1) She receives the mail almost a full day after I send it.

2) I get the following bounce message almost a day after sending it:

Persistent Transient Failure: Delivery time expired

3) I get the following bounce message immediately after sending it:

450 earthlink.net backlog too large to queue [domain may be overloaded or down]

-She does not have problems receiving mail from anyone but me.

-When i send mail through a non-TCH server, it gets there with no problem.

-Her calls to Earthlink tech support have uncovered no problems on their end (or so they say)

Any ideas as to what's going on? Thanks.

I was getting email a full 5 days late from Earthlink just recently! They weren't coming from TCH servers. I would bet that it is Earthlink...even though she doesn't seem to have problems with any other email. The problem was very random for me, and sporadic.

As far as their support...well...let's just say that they should aspire to be a LOT more like TCH. First guy I talked to told me that the line I was calling in on was 94% congested. His solution to me was to "give it a couple of days." The second person I talked to about 10 minutes later gave me an alternate dial-up number!! Needless to say...I don't think much of their support!!

Hi,

Sorry to see you having problems with email.

Here is what the error codes are about.

Persistent Transient Failure: Delivery time expired

TCH tried to send the email to the earthlink account several times and the server was down or did not respond.

450 earthlink.net backlog too large to queue [domain may be overloaded or down]

The domain earthlink.net's email servers were down or overloaded and were bouncing all mail.

earthlink has been having some issues lately... its not just tch not being able to email them..

I work at a major isp and we have the same issue with earthlink and mindspring domains... mainly because of the mydoom virus..

I've had recent problems with earhlink as well, but I believe it's on their end. I was sending email to an earthlink customer from my TCH account (but through comcast's smtp server) and got back an error saying the message was directed because there were too many messages for that domain (earthlink.net) waiting to be delivered.
