  1. For over a year I've been using squirrelmail found at: http://****/sqmail However, I've grown tired of it's interface and would like to begin using Horde. As far as I can tell, the only path to Horde requires that I login using my CPanel username and password. This won't work. My email account is not the same as my CPanel login! When I login with my CPanel username and password I am able to navigate my inbox folders to see my main email account, but I'd rather log directly into that account! In addition, if I ever add email addresses for family, they won't be able to log in to horde! I don't understand why there is no simple web login interface to horde? Is there a way I could at least install and configure Horde in my own web directories?
  2. I am writing a little database application for my website and would like the ability to create views. Unfortunately, the folks at MySQL didn't get around to implementing this feature until Version 5.0.1. My server is still running 4.0 I must admit, I am a MySQL novice and I'm not sure when 5.0 came out or if there are compelling reasons NOT to upgrade. Is there any chance we'll see 5.0 on TCH anytime soon? I have a completely normalized database and doing all of those joins on the fly all the time is going to be expensive. I'd like to be able to have a view saved to speed things up!
  3. Okay, makes sense. Thanks!
  4. A friend pointed me to this new free email service called aventuremail. They claim to offer 2GB of storage and have no ads. Clearly, it's not all on the up and up. But I created an account and I must say, the interface is SLICK. It runs on a program called "HiveMail". Granted, I've used it for all of about 20 minutes, but I really like the look and feel. Any chance we could demo/get this on TCH servers? http://www.hivemail.com http://www.aventuremail.com
  5. I've had these problems on shared hosts in the past, but I'd heard TCH was much better. I attempted to reply to an email I was sent and my reply was bounced back with the following failure: According to link: What's the deal?
  6. Hah... you'd think that working in IT I would have thought of that! Duh! The subject and from address in the third quote just looked so much like spam that I jumped to that assumption. Thanks.
  7. For the last week or so I've been getting a bounceback email that strikes me as very odd. Why is it odd? I have never sent email to the address it's going to! Here's the message I get my real address has been overwritten with MY_ADDRESS@MY_DOMAIN.net to protect... well... me: >Subject: Returned mail: User unknown From: "Mail Delivery Subsystem" <MAILER-DAEMON@aol.com> Date: Tue, May 4, 2004 1:57 pm To: MY_ADDRESS@MY_DOMAIN.net Priority: Normal The original message was received at Tue, 4 May 2004 13:57:33 -0400 (EDT) from dpvc-68-162-218-122.bos.east.verizon.net [68.162.218.122] *** ATTENTION *** Your e-mail is being returned to you because there was a problem with its delivery. The address which was undeliverable is listed in the section labeled: "----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----". The reason your mail is being returned to you is listed in the section labeled: "----- Transcript of Session Follows -----". The line beginning with "<<<" describes the specific reason your e-mail could not be delivered. The next line contains a second error message which is a general translation for other e-mail servers. Please direct further questions regarding this message to your e-mail administrator. --AOL Postmaster ----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors ----- <adamvolpe@aol.com> ----- Transcript of session follows ----- ... while talking to air-yd02.mail.aol.com.: >>> RCPT To:<adamvolpe@aol.com> <<< 550 MAILBOX NOT FOUND 550 <adamvolpe@aol.com>... But why the hell is it bouncing back to me? Anyone have any ideas?
  8. Putting my vote in for Mod GZIP as well.
  9. I've had recent problems with earhlink as well, but I believe it's on their end. I was sending email to an earthlink customer from my TCH account (but through comcast's smtp server) and got back an error saying the message was directed because there were too many messages for that domain (earthlink.net) waiting to be delivered.
  10. I had to stop using previous versions of thunderbird because the IMAP performance was so terrible. However, I gave it another shot with the release of .5 this week. I was able to set up the account using the wizard. No special settings were required at all. It just worked. And I must say, the IMAP improvents are very noticable.
  11. Whenever I "Reply-All" using Squirrelmail, I am included in the CC. This gets quite annoying. Turning off the option in "Display Preferences" has no effect. Is there a preference file I can edit by hand somewhere?
  12. Nevermind. I'm aparently not all-together that smart. I now see the "Configure" button in CPanel.
  13. I recently started receiving spam to my email account despite being careful to always use aliases for signing up for things and such. I responded by enabling SpamAssasin which has caught 95% of it. The problem is the messages that still get through are right on the verge of the threshold. Every one of them has had 5 hits (it seems > 5 is the requirement). For example, the message with these headers got through: I want messages with hits = 5.0 to be caught. Is this a setting I can control? I don't see it in CPanel, but does a config file exist that I can FTP to?
  14. Agreed. I'd still like th ability to work with .htaccess. Not a deal breaker though so I guess I can sign up
