ThumpAZ Posted February 4, 2004 Posted February 4, 2004 "Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." - Lewis Carroll Isn't this a quote from Alice in Wonderland, by the Mad Hatter? Quote
Virtual Imager Posted February 4, 2004 Author Posted February 4, 2004 Yes... it's from Alice in Wonderland, although I'm not positive which character. Lewis Carroll wrote Alice In Wonderland. Quote
ThumpAZ Posted February 6, 2004 Posted February 6, 2004 I was thinking so... I just got through reading an article that disected the passage of the never ending tea party. I cannot recall who said this, but it is very poigniant(sp?) "god limited man in his capacity for knowledge, too bad he did not do the same for stupidity" Quote
Virtual Imager Posted February 6, 2004 Author Posted February 6, 2004 That's great! I have a bunch of quotes about stupidity... just didn't want to include them in that first post praising TCH and their great attitude. Here are a few I've collected: The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits. (I think that's just a paraphrase of yours). The problem with the gene pool is that there is no lifeguard. Never underestimate the power of very stupid people in large groups. - John Kenneth Galbraith It is a luxury to be understood. - Ralph Waldo Emerson The average woman would rather have beauty than brains, because the average man can see better than he can think. ~Unknown I am returning this otherwise good typing paper to you because someone has printed gibberish all over it and put your name at the top. ~English Professor, Ohio University I can't believe that out of 10,000 I AM A SPAMMER, you were the quickest. ~Steven Pearl Discourse on virtue and they pass by in droves. Whistle and dance the shimmy, and you've got an audience. --Diogenes And my personal favorite: I only drink to make other people seem interesting. - George Jean Nathan I love collecting quotes... when I come across ones that I like online, I just copy and paste them into a document. Every once in a while I read through it for motivation or inspiration. What was the article you were reading??? VI Quote
ThumpAZ Posted February 6, 2004 Posted February 6, 2004 It was an article in W.C. Privy's Bathroom Companion... same place I got the quote I posted. I am an avid reader of useless trivia. My favorites are by the Bathroom Reader's Institute and are published as "Uncle John's Bathroom Reader" I have all 15 volumes! you can find them at BRI.com Quote
Ninepatch Posted February 7, 2004 Posted February 7, 2004 My favorite saying is by George Bernard Shaw and comes to my rescue when often asked why I'm doing something. I like to do things just to see if I can - like growing canteloupe in the clayish soil of my northern Ohio garden. Yes I could - they were very, very small and deliciously sweet. I savoured each one with a scoop of French vanilla ice cream and the good company of my next door neighbor. Why did I do that? It "keeps me from wondering the streets and scaring the horses." Beth Quote
ThumpAZ Posted February 7, 2004 Posted February 7, 2004 Sscaring the horses... sounds like something I would be afflicted with Quote
Virtual Imager Posted February 7, 2004 Author Posted February 7, 2004 I like to do things just to see if I can "The cure for boredom is curiosity. There is no cure for curiosity." -- Ellen Parr Which brings us back to Alice in Wonderland.... curiouser and curiouser.. Quote
