NoDeity Posted January 26, 2004 Posted January 26, 2004 I tried sending an email through one of my sites hosted here at TCH and this box popped up: I clicked "View Certificate", which produced this: I've sent mail through my BRBonline.com account before but haven't received that kind of warning message before, anywhere. For now, I'll stop using that address until I know whether or not it's really something to worry about. I googled around for info on servernode.net but didn't find anything that enlightened me. I did a whois on the domain name and tried to go to the domain indicated in the DNS listings but the URL returned a "Not Found" error. Am I being overly cautious? I just don't know. Perhaps I'm a little paranoid since my BRBonline.com site, which was hosted elsewhere at the time, got defaced earlier this month (then the host disappeared without explanation, so I moved the site here). Suggestions? Quote
TCH-Andy Posted January 26, 2004 Posted January 26, 2004 Hi, This is an SSL certificate on that server - so no it isnt someone attempting to intercept your email. It looks as if you are trying to send / recieve email using SSL - turn that off and you should be fine. Andy Quote
Head Guru Posted January 26, 2004 Posted January 26, 2004 Let me explain where the hostname servernode.net is coming from. When we build up a server at this facility, we give them our exact server specs and they in turn build the server. This includes a fresh install of the Operating System and cPanel. When they have tested the server and are confident it's a strong build, TotalChoice will then purchase the server. With all the above in mind, they have to assign it a hostname in order to put it on the network and test it. We then take over the server and set it up with our standard install and setup. Looks like we botched the hostname on Server54, meaning we forgot to change it somewhere in the setup. This is being looked at now. Quote
Nick_ Posted January 26, 2004 Posted January 26, 2004 While mostly cosmetic, this is now fixed.. I just checked the SSL certification and it now shows that it was issued to server54.totalchoicehosting.com as it should. As always, don't hesitate to let us know if you need anything further. Quote
