jtrai491 Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 Can someone tell me if a shopping cart from VP-ASP can be used here. My current cart has zero support and I need additional features. Also, none of the free carts can handle the complex cart that I need. Here is the link to the software I am looking into: http://www.vpcart.com/virtprog/info/faq_hosting.htm Thanks, Joe Trainor Keystone Embroidery www.keystone-embroidery.com and Happy New Year!! GroovyFish Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 Joe, I'll let someone official respond to the question of running the VP-ASP cart here, but have you taken a look at the OSCommerce cart? After taking a look at the VP-ASP demo (quickly) it doesn't look too much different than what you would get with OSCommerce, and OSCommerce is a one-click install from the Cpanel here!! Take a look at OSCommerce's online demo here: http://www.oscommerce.com/osCommerce22ms2/ Or, go here: http://www.oscommerce.com/shops/live to take a look at what other people have done with OSCommerce. I have been playing with it on my site (to convince my mother to switch her shopping cart to OSCommerce, so it's not a live site) but if you want to take a look at it, PM me and I will give you the URL. Take Care, Groovy P.S. My mom now loves OSCommerce so we will be moving her site to TCH and setting up OSCommerce for her store sometime 1st Quarter 2004. Quote
Nick_ Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 I would also strongly urge you to try OSCommerce, I think you will be impressed. However, as far as your shopping cart, as far as I know, and I could be wrong...TCH doesn't have any Windows servers, so it won't support ASP (you can support ASP through Linux, however it's expensive, and not completely stable) Therefore, I don't think TCH supports this shopping cart, but like I said, I urge you to give OSCommerce a try Quote
TCH-Rob Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 Joe, That application will not work on our servers, it's the ASP part. I would look at osCommerce, easy to install and easy to work with. Quote
jtrai491 Posted January 2, 2004 Author Posted January 2, 2004 The problem I have with oscommerce is lack of documentation or trying to find it. I went the oscommerce site but can't find any clear cut documentation for installing and working with this application. I'm not a programm or developer but if I have documentation I can usually figure things out. Is there any documentation for this application and if so where?? Thanks, Joe Rock Sign Quote
TCH-Dick Posted January 2, 2004 Posted January 2, 2004 You can find answers to most problems in the osCommerce forums and the install instructions are included in the package. Also osCommerce is an one click install from your cPanel, just look under CGI Scripts>Addon Scripts . Quote
TCH-Dick Posted January 2, 2004 Posted January 2, 2004 All of the install info is in the download, OSCommerce is available on our servers as a pre installed script, all you would need to do is specify a folder to install to, and click a button. There are several forum members that use oscommerce as well and getting help with it usually isnt a problem. Quote
TCH-Rob Posted January 2, 2004 Posted January 2, 2004 Mike is correct. I use it as well and you can find good documentation at wiki.oscommerce.com as well. Quote

Where can I find OScommerce on the server? I checked ADDon Scripts and didn't see it to be installed. Thanks.. Skip Quote
