Can't register domain name

Hi

I tried to register a domain name with TotalChoice but I get a page that says Server not found or something to that effect.

Secondly, I plan to set up a forum with the hosting plan which I will signing up soon, and was wondering if I can set a FTP account for my moderators and members to upload on image files ( JPG, GIF and PNG ). No, it's not going to be an adult forum, it's going to be a graphic design related forum.

Thanks for the reply.

I think it's a possibilty that the Net outage is still on. I tried a few times with IE and Mozilla but to no avail. Both browsers cannot find www.secureserver.net

It sounds like a issue with your ISP.

I just checked secureserver.net (Wild West Domains Registration Server) from several points around the US and was able to ping the server each time.

The SQL Worm is still pretty much running free on the i-net right now, and is effecting several ISP's across the nation.

Well, it's Thursday night over here and I still cannot register my domain name from the link provided on the site navigation bar.

After clicking on the Domain Registration link, it leads to a Page not found error screen, meaning the http://www.secureserver.net/default.asp?pr...simple&se=&isc= link does not work for me. I tried to register which other companies that use secureserver.net as well, but it was the same end result -> page not found...

Does TotalChoice allow me to host a .it domain name? The order form which I tried to fill in does not have a .it option.

thanks for the reply

Ok. The site is definitely up, so there are a couple of things I want you to try, ok? (And don't be offended if I talk under you. Remember, I have no idea of your level of experience.)

1. Use that link, which did work for me btw, to open the page. If you get the Page Not found, try to hold down the CTRL key on your keyboard as you refresh. This forces a complete download of the page (bypasses cache). If that doesn't work, then:

2. Sounds like you may need to delete temp files in your browser. This would force a complete refresh of the page. If using Internet Explorer, Click Tools > Internet Options > Delete Files. Then on that same dialog click Settings. Make sure that you are set to either 'Every time you start Internet Explorer' or 'Every visit to the page option.' Click OK, Click Ok. Close IE and reopen and try the page.

3. If that doesn't work then open an ms dos prompt on your computer and type: ping secureserver.net You should get a reply back. If you do NOT, then ..... as Bill said, sounds like an ISP issue.

If you do get a good ping but still get the Page Not Found, post back here.

Slammer must have slammed a few servers connecting to Secureserver.net over this part of the world as I received "Ping request could not find host secureserver.net"

I will try to register the domain name with other companies and come back here for the hosting later. Thanks Lianna for helping me out so far.

Ok, one more followup. What type of connection do you have? If dialup and you've disconnected and reconnected then do you have firewall or antivirus software that may be causing an interference?

If cable or dsl, have you tried to turn off your modem and/or router to get a completely new connection with your ISP? If yes, and still the prob, then back to the Firewall/Antivirus or other software that may be interferring?

Beyond those things, I'm at a loss what to tell you.

Anybody else either have ideas or having the same problem?

Am using ADSL, and have turned the modem on/off a few times, with the same result. Could be the firewall though. Am going to switch it off to see if it helps. Thanks for the suggestion.

OK... going to wave the white flag and give up. :(

I turned off the firewall but still get a page not found message. Will sign up once I get the domain name registered. Thanks for the help.
