teddupuie Posted October 16, 2003 Posted October 16, 2003 Hi, I had two images that wouldn't come up on my site (free-diet.biz) so while reading 100 posts to find the answer, I decided to delete the whole thing and start over. That worked fine for a couple hours (but still no pictures) then it is back to nothing again. I still have everything loaded... I can see the files in there. So I guess I wait for this propagation thing again, eh? How many days is normal waiting time when you make a change on your site. I've had mine for two weeks now and still wondering what is going on. vendlus Posted October 16, 2003 Posted October 16, 2003 I don't get anything when going to h**p://free-diet.biz/ except three folders (two of which are protected by nature, and an image folder with nothing in it. Where are you putting your files on the server?? They should be in the www or public_html folder. Quote
TCH-JimE Posted October 16, 2003 Posted October 16, 2003 Hi, Agreed, it would seem that you have not placed the files in the correct location. You will need to place them into the public_html folder. This is actually the same folder as the WWW folder. The www folder is just a short cut to the public_html folder Jim Quote
teddupuie Posted October 16, 2003 Author Posted October 16, 2003 Thanx, I'll try again. Have been openning publilc.html and loading from cpanel, but just uploaded from FTP Commander last time. But I'm sure I won't have images........ I did ust read a thread and 22 images were not visible to me...... May have a different problem than I first thought. Ted Quote
teddupuie Posted October 16, 2003 Author Posted October 16, 2003 Have just loaded to public and www and still have nothing. The last time I had everything loaded just fine and waited a few hours before posting a quarry. I did nothing at all and the pages appeared the next morning when I went to the site. That is why my original question is "how long am I suppose to wait?". I have sent in a ticket with the same question. I have loaded my site 6 times now. I had pages this morning, but replaced them in hopes of the images looking better. This is getting frustrating. Ted Quote
TCH-Dick Posted October 16, 2003 Posted October 16, 2003 I can see your page just fine, minus images...are you putting your images in the /_borders folder? Becase that is where the url is trying to link to Also, I noticed the e-mail link at the bottom Send mail to totalchoice.com with questions or comments about this web site. You might want to change that to your e-mail address, since if someone does e-mail us asking about your site we wont have any idea what they are talking about. Quote
TCH-Don Posted October 16, 2003 Posted October 16, 2003 You may want to check capitalization like Little_Big_Man.GIF especially the .GIF most people use only lower case to eliminate this problem. look at it in your folder (http://free-diet.biz/_borders/Little_Big_Man.GIF) to be sure it matches your source code. Just upload to public_html www is just a short to public_html You should see the images right away, or press control-F5 to force your browser to reload. Quote
teddupuie Posted October 22, 2003 Author Posted October 22, 2003 Thanks again, The mystery of the disappearing pages was finally solved by the support team telling me to use a little common sense Naughty I have a cable modem and never shut off my computer so I can scan for viruses while I'm sleeping. So every time I would do anything, the pages weren't refreshing and I was seeing the (page shadow?? echo??) whatever it might be called. The original page I uploaded was something I was playing with in Frontpage, before I bought a domain or registered here to find out how poorly FP is, compared to a novices dreams. I just replaced it with one that seems to work as far as I can see. I have to get this one right before I can start on the next two, and totalchoice was the right place to come Rock Sign I'm off to learn more. Ted Quote
TCH-Don Posted October 22, 2003 Posted October 22, 2003 Congratulations Ted Glad you are all set, don't forget, if you need anything else just ask. There are plenty of family members here to help. Quote
