strodeath Posted October 2, 2003 Posted October 2, 2003 Ahahahahaha, you guys are funny as hell. You're jumping all over my back for MISREADING MY POST. Who cares what the topic says!?!? I assumed that since CuteSiteBuilder is used for TCH that they were made by the same company, and sicne I just signed up. I expected to get a serial Number.. Sheesh you all need to really read more carefully. Where is this public_html thing everyone's talking about? Make sure you set CuteSite Builder to save to public_html as described in your welcome email. The files were uploaded to your root directory and will not show up there. I moved them into the correct directory. And you all just gave me a second warning for nothing.. You guys abusing your powers. Quote
Head Guru Posted October 2, 2003 Posted October 2, 2003 I own this company, these are my forums. You play by the rules or you dont post. Your post wasn't misread. I cant be any more clear than that. Violate the rules your gone. You second warning was issued due the use of profane language. Quote
strodeath Posted October 2, 2003 Author Posted October 2, 2003 Profaine language? What'd I say? Hell? Funny thing is people can use that word in public.. " You're gonna burn in hell! " And you never did answer my question.. I put " Public_html " under the directory in options when publishing and still nothing.. Quote
TCH-Don Posted October 2, 2003 Posted October 2, 2003 purchase Cute Site builder kw cutesitebuilder support for publishing info, this is the same link you were given in the CSB forum. If you read about the publish settings, it will answer your question TCH is listed there, as well as many other tips on using the program. One of the many reasons any type of profanity is not permitted is because of the large number of children visiting this forum trying to learn about building a web site. I know of a 10 year old I recommended to browse here to learn more. I would like to think it is safe for her here. Hope you understand. I guess that is why we call this a family forum. So try to think of her when you post, thank you. Quote
strodeath Posted October 2, 2003 Author Posted October 2, 2003 Funny thing is, since turtle explained it that way, I won't ever say it again. But closing my thread and giving me a slap on the wrist and not telling me anything won't quite cut it. You gotta be more OPEN ABOUT IT. Not just boss people around and expect them to listen to you. strodeath Posted October 2, 2003 Author Posted October 2, 2003 Everything the CSB Support says I have! But I can't connect to my control panel.. It gives me the that lil page not there thing.. Quote
TCH-Don Posted October 2, 2003 Posted October 2, 2003 At the top of every page is a guideline for this forum, as you will find on any forum. The rules are different for each, so I always read them when I join a forum. Hope you will read them. Quote
strodeath Posted October 2, 2003 Author Posted October 2, 2003 Hahaha nah, forget the rules. Rules blow. What about the website? www.clandsc.com It's still not up.. and when I go and try to access my control panel, it gives me the page not there like the one above.. Quote
TCH-Dick Posted October 2, 2003 Posted October 2, 2003 Hahaha nah, forget the rules. Rules blow. What about the website? www.clandsc.com It's still not up.. and when I go and try to access my control panel, it gives me the page not there like the one above.. Your website isnt up because you havent registered that domain name, you dont own the name its not going to work. If you'd like to register the domain name you can do that here, http://www.secureserver.net/default.asp?pr...simple&se=&isc= TotalChoice does not own CSB, TotalChoice does not provide support for CSB, if you want a serial number for it, buy a full version of it. If you want support, try the links turtle suggested. If you dont want to do any of the above and would like a refund, you can request that here. https://ssl.totalchoicehosting.com/supportdesk/ If you still insist on pushing to see how far you can get, thats ok to, just dont expect to be able to do it for long. strodeath Posted October 2, 2003 Author Posted October 2, 2003 Hahah quite alright. Despite how I seem to hate most of you ( With the exception of turtle, for his help and kindness now and last time I needed help ) TCH is a good site, and it's well worth the money I put toward it.. Quote
TCH-Dick Posted October 2, 2003 Posted October 2, 2003 Believe it or not, no one here is out to get you. The support people here as well as the forum members go out of their way and bend over back wards to help in any way they can. As far as accessing your site and cpanel, like I said before that domain name is unregistered, so no matter how many times you try and go to that address you'll get the page can not be displayed message. If you do decide to register it, you'll need to point the DNS to our domain name servers, thats takes 24-72 hours to propagate. There are instructions in the welcome e-mail you received when you signed up that tell you how to access your site and cpanel by the IP address. Quote
strodeath Posted October 2, 2003 Author Posted October 2, 2003 Alright I just bought the web domain for my site.. If you do decide to register it, you'll need to point the DNS to our domain name servers, thats takes 24-72 hours to propagate. I don't quite understand what you're saying. ( For I have no clue what DNS is ) And I'm guessing I havta wait 24 hours before the website Domain is officially mine, THEN I can upload? Quote
Deverill Posted October 2, 2003 Posted October 2, 2003 (edited) Hi Strodeath, DNS is Domain Name System or Domain Name Service. Basically it turns the name of your domain, in my case jimscomputing.com, into a correct IP address so a person looking for your site will end up at the computer hosting that site. What all this means to you is that you need to go to the company where you bought your new domain name and tell them to send anyone looking for you to the proper IP address here at TCH. The nameserver to use is in the signup email along with instructions for uploading your site before the name change spreads to the entire world. What you can do is tell your browser to go to the IP directly instead of giving it the name of your site and letting it try to look that up. Hope it helps. Edited October 2, 2003 by Deverill Quote
strodeath Posted October 2, 2003 Author Posted October 2, 2003 You'll havta be slightly more specific when you refer to " The e-mail you received " I got about 10 different websites it gave me, and most of them don't work cause I havta sign up, and the username and password they sent me doesn't even work. :-\ ==========================================DNS Instructions: ========================================== If you purchased or hosted a new domain with TotalChoice you can ignore the next section of this letter, as it does not apply to new domains. New domains take 24-72 hours to become active. If you have transferred your domain to TotalChoice, you MUST visit your registrar and update your DNS pointers to the following: NS1.TOTALCHOICEHOSTING.COM NS2.TOTALCHOICEHOSTING.COM (Please note it should be exactly in the same order) Once DNS information of any domain has been changed/updated, it will take approximately 24-72 hours for the domain name to be propagated, at which point your site will be viewable by the domain name. Domain Names are not included in the cost of the hosting plans and MUST be purchased separately. ========================================== This is what I recieved in the e-mail.. Ok first of all, I bought the domain name... about an hour ago. So I gotta wait til around tommorow this time before contacting DNS about the thingy right? Quote
Deverill Posted October 2, 2003 Posted October 2, 2003 It all depends on whom you purchased your domain name registry from. Some set it up immediately and others take awhile. The 24-72 hour thing generally refers to how long it takes the change to the DNS setting to get the word out to the rest of the world. If I change my DNS entry, for instance, XYZ Domain Registry company may make the change immediately but BellSouth, my internet provider, won't know where jimscomputing.com is until maybe 3 days later. The part you quoted is the right info that you have to set on the site of the place you bought the domain name. Quote
strodeath Posted October 2, 2003 Author Posted October 2, 2003 I bought my Web Domain Name from TCH. I'm assuming since they said 24-72 hours then they're not one of the people the set it up instantly.. Quote
TCH-Dick Posted October 2, 2003 Posted October 2, 2003 TCH has nothing to do with the 24-72 hours. 24-72 hours is the amount of time for propagation. Propagation refers to the amount of time it takes for all the DNS servers everywhere around the world to recognize the fact that either a particular name has been changed, or that the authority for that name has changed. Its kinda like when you move, it always takes the bill collectors a few days to find you. Seriously though, hope this explains it a little better. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. strodeath Posted October 2, 2003 Author Posted October 2, 2003 Makes sense I guess... I'll try and upload tommorowz to see if everything works.. Quote
