Extreme Posted October 18, 2007 Author Posted October 18, 2007 i have downloaded PhPbb. I have the files in a rar and in a folder after decompression. I tried doing the webdisk but once its on the desktop and i try to open it i get a wondows script error. I have WS_FTP but dont know what to enter in or what to even do there. Once the forums i run are up then im done really. I am hosting this for a NWN game server. I dont need a fancy website but i might make one one day when i learn how. All i need is a forums that when i go to tregonia.net, they are there. I can loggin and handle the board and run the game server. Quote

If this is an existing phpbb forum that you have run on another server and when you say you have the phpbb files you mean a backup of that existing forum: If you want to upload the files yourself, we have a ftp tutorial here including info about ws_ftp. Basically you would need to tell ws_ftp the following info: Username: your cpanel username Password: The password given by TCH FTP Account: ftp.tregonia.net Directory you would want to upload to is public_html I don´t use ws_ftp but this is the info all ftp programs asks for although the fields in ws_ftp can be named something else though. Then you would need to upload the database backup which can be a bit tricky so the best is to upload the database backup to the public_html directory and submit a ticket to the help desk and ask them to restore the database. 2. If this is a new phpbb forum installation you will need to follow the installation instructions found here. Quote

If your have a backup of an existing phpbb forum on your local computer (the rar file) you could upload it to the public_html directory and submit a ticket and ask the techs to restore this too. I ran the file aftersaving it to desktop and i was able to xfer the files to the webdisk. so now they are there . Worst thing is that with one thing down comes another Quote

I will seek out phpBB tomorrow and see if i can get the mod's for it all and they are not listed to be turned on. If i didnt know better, they would have never existed.
