etheline cimatu Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 I have not had this problem before yesterday. Uploading new files and overwriting existing ones using my cyberduck ftp client was smooth until yesterday. So then I thought maybe it's a permission issue so I logged into cpanel and into file manager. I tried changing the file permission and the folder it was in to '777', I can't even do that. So then I decided make the changes within cpanel, and tried to save the file and all I get is this '[a fatal error or timeout occurred while processing this directive]' Please help. I am helping a school setup their website and needs to be up before school starts at the end of August. Thanks Etheline Quote
TCH-Tim Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 If you open a ticket with the help desk and tell us what folder/files you are having issues with we can check it out for you. https://tchhelp.com And welcome to the forums. Quote
TCH-Dick Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 I was unable to locate a ticket for you but this is usually caused by file ownership issues or you have exceeded you disk quota. Either way you will need to open a ticket if you have not done so. Quote
TCH-Andy Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 Welcome to the forums Etheline As Dick says, open a ticket at the help desk (link at the top of this page) and they will sort things out for you. Quote
etheline cimatu Posted August 11, 2006 Author Posted August 11, 2006 Hi guys, you guys are quick. But it's okay, after long hours of searching I figured out my solution. I found it here. Basically, if joomla installed the component, any file within it will have joomla as the owner. So I used JoomlaXplorer to tweak the files and it worked. Thanx for the quick response, though. etheline Quote
TCH-Andy Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 Hi Etheline, I'm glad you have it sorted. As was stated in the initial responses by Dick this is due to "ownership" of the files. As clarification, for anyone else reading this thread, the "owner" depends slightly on the server setup. On our servers, since the files were installed by a script then the owner is "nobody", rather than your username (or joomla). If you then try logging in with your cpanel username to modify files you may not have permissions. Quote
