Guest Sam Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 Hello, I'm thinking of moving a mailman mailing list from my current host. Is it possible to move the list and the archive over to a new host? I would also like to know which plan would be best for hosting a small forum based on phpbb2? Thanks, --sam Quote
TCH-JimE Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 Welcome to Totalchoicehosting Sam, I believe the starter plan will easily be enough to run a small forum based on the free phpbb2 forum software. I run a very large forum on the silver plan so you should have more then enough on the starter. For mailman, I would think its possible. Does your current provider have CPANEL? If so, I believe it should be a straight forward to do so! Even if its not, its still moveable I hope this answers your questions. Any more, just get back to us! JimE Quote

My current host (Hostway) does not use CPANEL. They have their own thing called SiteControl. --sam Quote
abinidi Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 Welcome to the forums, Sam. The help desk might be able to answer this site transfer question better than we can, as they deal with server-specific questions. If I were you, I'd open a help desk ticket (link at the top of the forum) and see if they are able to import your content directly from your old server. You'll be asked for a username and password at the bottom of the help desk ticket form. Just enter "none" "none" (without quotes), and on the next screen you'll probably have to click on the "My answer isn't here, submit ticket anyway" button (but only if your answer really isn't on the page, of course ) Quote
Guest Guest Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 Ticket Opened... but GAH!!! I think I might have submitted it twice. --sa Quote
