slick Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 Hi. I would like to set up an email forwarder that does the following: emailadd1@domain1 forwards to emailadd1@domain2 In other words, I would like any email sent to domain1 to be sent the domain2 but using the same email address prefix. For example, john@domain1 would be forwarded to john@domain2 jane@domain1 would be forwarded to jane@domain2 and so on. Is there one commain that I could use to accomplish this? Thanks alot. Quote
TCH-Rob Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 As long as you have a mail account for john and jane@domain2 then go to cPanel for domain1 and then in the email section there should be an option for forwarders. In there you can make a forward to do what you want. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 You will need to use individual forwards for each email address or pipe your email to a script that can forward. I know of no such script but maybe someone else does. Quote
TCH-Andy Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 If one domain is parked on top of the other, then you can set up automatic forwarding in cpanel for all emails going to domain1 to go to domain2 as you require. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 Well, thanks Andy, I learned something today too. Quote
abinidi Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 I learned something today too. That means the advice I gave yesterday is wrong... Dang it! Quote

Hey Andy. Could elaborate on how I can do this in cpanel? The domain I want to forward to is not parked on top of the other, but I would like to see if this method would be applicable. Thanks. P.S. In my first post that word "commain" should have really been "command"... Edited April 13, 2006 by slick Quote
TCH-Andy Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 How depends slightly on the skin you are using in cpanel. In the email section though, there is an "Email Domain Forwarding" section in some of the skins. In there you simply select domain1 and set it to forward all mail to domain2. I just tested it on one of my accounts which I parked a domain. It gives the instructions on the cpanel page as; Instructions A Domain Forwarder redirects all mail from any of your domains to another domain. For example, if you setup bob.com to redirect sam.com, any email send to any address at bob.com will be sent to the corresponding user at sam.com (bob@bob.com would be sent to bob@sam.com). Any valid pop accounts existing on the domain forwarding was set up on will still receive mail and no forward will be sent. Quote
slick Posted April 30, 2006 Author Posted April 30, 2006 Ah I see. Well I guess I don't have that particular skin on my cPanel. All I have is "Forwarders". Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 To Slick, I don´t know which cpanel skin that Andy is referring to, but you can ask the help desk to change the skin to the one that Andy is talking about. Quote
TCH-Don Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 In the email section I see Email Domain Forwarding in the bluelagoon, monsoon and x2 themes. So if you don't see Email Domain Forwarding then its ticket time Quote
abinidi Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 This option doesn't seem to be available in the default theme..... Quote
abinidi Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 The problem is that if it really is a skin problem, then EVERBODY who is on virutal hosting is going to have the same trouble, since we all got reverted back to the default theme as part of the hosting upgrade today. I don't really need it on my page right now, but I was just pointing out that it it seems to be a theme problem, and if it is indeed a theme problem, then there are going to be a LOT of virtual hosters who won't be able to run this function anymore. Then again, I could be wrong, as often happens. Maybe I'll head over to cPanel's website and see if I can't submit a feature request for a better default theme. Quote

Well. Guess I'll have to look into that one too, won't I? Quote
TCH-Tim Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 This is not a theme issue. "Email Domain Forwarding" is turned off by default. If you need it please open a help desk ticket and we will turn it on for you. Once we turn it on it will show up in whatever theme you are using, which right now is probably "x". Quote
