undersan Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 I am hosting http://207.44.240.63/~ericolo/songs/Alison...ken%20Tango.mp3 and several other files in the same directory. Of course I could link to the files via http://www.ericology.com/songs/ instead, but I'm hosting the files for a friend's website (alisongist.com), and I don't want her visitors to be confused, seeing "transferring from ericology.com..." in their status bar. I prefer that they just see "transferring from 207.44.240.63...". I know that I'm using considerable bandwidth to host these files, but it's not showing up in cpanel's awstats--not a single hit has registered. Also, it doesn't seem to be showing up on the bandwidth page (frontend/bluelagoon/stats/bandwidth.html). Any thoughts? Quote
TCH-Andy Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 Welcome to the forums undersan I'm afraid that hosting your friends domain (or parts of) on your account would be against our Terms of Service. The reason it doesn't show up is because it's not using the domain name, and hence you do need to change it to the domain name. A silly question, why doesn't Alison host the files on her own account ? BTW, I like Alson's voice, she sings well. Quote
undersan Posted March 29, 2006 Author Posted March 29, 2006 >you do need to change it to the domain name. Okay, I will do this ASAP. >why doesn't Alison host the files on her own account ? she is also with TCH. Next time she gets a big unpredictable traffic spike that consumes all available bandwidth, we want the music to go offline first, without the site's HTML pages going offline. This is why I don't want her music on the same TCH account as her html pages. The entire situation is only temporary. My plan is to put the music files on a "burstable" hosting plan like fileburst. TCH-JimE Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 Hello, CPANEL doesn't offer the ability to choose which files are discriminited againest in the advent of loosing bandwidth. Whilst your solution may only be temporary, please remove alision's file back to her own account. Thanks JimE Quote
