TCH-Bruce Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 Found this and thought it was interesting. http://dsc.discovery.com/fansites/alive/quiz/quiz.html I got 8 of 11 and would most likely survive. Quote
TCH-Tim Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 8 out of 11. Likely to survive provided I don't encounter a snake or a shark. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted March 11, 2006 Author Posted March 11, 2006 I got the shark right, missed the snake too. Quote
Deverill Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 9 of 11 here. Missing the question about the desert isn't so bad since I've never been in one but missing the shark is kinda bad since they do live here and I've seen them 10 feet from shore. Quote
Samrc Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 I missed the avalanche question and purposely punched the shark even though I know that is so very wrong! They didn't even bother to explain WHY it is wrong. LOL! Guess I don't have to worry about avalanches in Florida and will be staying away from sharks for a while. Quote
TCH-Tim Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Guess I'll be sure to bring a stick with me next time I go diving. Quote
TCH-Rob Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Cool, I guessed them all. Did not know about the stick thing though. Quote
Deverill Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 According to this exerpt from an article in Slate we were not wrong! The surfer who tried to save this weekend's shark attack victim says he defended himself by punching the shark with his bare fist. Is that a good idea? Shark attack experts suggest punching a shark only as a last resort. Rapid retreat tends to be a better plan. It won't help to play dead if a shark has you cornered. Instead, a smack to the face or snout—where sharks, like humans, have a high concentration of sensory receptors—can stun your attacker and give you enough time to escape. When a shark has you in its jaws, try poking at its eyes or gills. So there! Quote
jayson Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Well I guess I will survive: 10 out of 11 I am a true survialist Quote
zilla Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 10/11 I'm good as long as I stay away from sharks. I even went back through and guessed the right shark answer, but didn't have time to read why it was right before it was taken away. Oh well. Quote
