Hi, apologies if this is a daft question but I have very little technical knowledge so bear with me !!

What has happened is this, I was trying to download a large file from my website using FTP and was getting timedout, someone suggested increasing the timeout settings which I did but this had no effect, still got timeout. I then changed the passive/port setting to passive. Still got timeout.

I then gave up and went to access a site via Internet Explorer, however I kept getting "site not available", (this hadnt been apparent before the Cute session)I went back to Cute and changed the settings back thinking this might be what caused it.

The above did not solve the problem.

I then uninstalled Cute but this didnt have any effect either.

I then did a system restore back to a date prior to installing Cute but again I still couldnt view internet pages.

I have definitely got a connection as another computer running off a router is still working perfectly, its just mine thats not showing pages.

I'm at my wits end as to how I get this to work again so any help would be greatly appreciated !!!

Mick.

Welcome to the forums Mick! I would first do a trace route to your sever to see if it's a server issue or a routing (network) issue. If you are unfamiliar with how to do it, you can check out this thread.

Hi Mick, just because one computer behind a router can connect to the internet doesn't mean everyone can. Your initial problem with a timeout suggest that you didn't have internet connectivity at that time and messing around with the cuteftp settings would not have caused it.

Now sometimes routers and modems can be fickle and you will drop connections to the network and not realize it. The first thing I would suggest you try is to power everything off and wait a couple minutes and then start turning everything back on. That includes turning off the cable modem, the router, and all the computers. This should renew all the network connections and hopefully get everyone back on the internet.

Welcome to the forums Mick! :)

It looks like your Ip address is blocked on the server. Please note that our security software on server blocks the ip if access to any service (webmail, cpanel, ftp etc) is attempted with wrong password more than a few times.

Please open a help desk ticket with your IP address. You can find your Ip by visiting www.whatismyip.com

Welcome to the forums Mick :)

As Kris says, we do some checks on the server to check for brute force attacks (people trying to get into accounts by guessing passwords). If you get your password wrong to many times, it can think you are trying to hack in. Hence you need to open a ticket, and we can unblock it.
