thebigtimer Posted September 4, 2005 Posted September 4, 2005 I configured my outlook 2003 correctly however I receive an error when I try to send emails. I read that some ISP block port 25 (mine is comcast hi-speed) so I changed the outgoing port to 26 and that gave me more errors. Is there anyway to fix this? I'm not sure if I'm giving enough information let me know if you need to know anything else. I really wanna use Outlook 2003 for my email and not have to use the webmail constantly. Thanks. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted September 4, 2005 Posted September 4, 2005 If your ISP is blocking both ports 25 and 26 you may have to set your outgoing email to use your ISP's server. You are authenticating yourself to send email through your domain, right? Quote
stevevan Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 And the error(s) say....? (With more info, maybe someone can tell what the problem is right away.) Quote
thebigtimer Posted September 5, 2005 Author Posted September 5, 2005 Sorry, here is the error message, I was having trouble trying to copy and paste it: Task 'mail.thebigtimer.com - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC65) : 'Your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server has reported an internal error. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP). The server responded: 503 No recipient(s).' Quote
stevevan Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 Not really an outlook person, it looks like authentication issues, as what TCH-Bruce mentioned above. Quote

TCH-Rick Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 In Outlook there is a setting under the More Settings/Outgoing Server tab that says "My Outgoing Server requires Authentication that should be checked. You should use the same settings as the Incoming Server. Quote
thebigtimer Posted September 7, 2005 Author Posted September 7, 2005 Got it! Thanks guys, I'm all fixed! Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 Glad you got it working. Was it the authenticating? Quote
thebigtimer Posted September 7, 2005 Author Posted September 7, 2005 Glad you got it working. Was it the authenticating? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes it was, good call bruce! However, now it doesn't receive email....If I use my email (John[at]thebigtimer.com) and password for the email account it is not accepted. However, if I use the username and password given to me by TCH for my domain it is accepted but I cannot receive any mail. Any thoughts? TCH-Bruce Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 The only thing I can think of is you don't have an account set up for John or you are using the wrong password. Can you check it with webmail? If so, I would recommend Thunderbird or another email client. I've seen a lot of people suddenly start having problems with Outlook and Outlook Express. Don't know if there is something wrong with those applications or not but it's getting very weird lately. Quote

TCH-Bruce Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 Here is a tutorial that explains how to configure an account. Quote
thebigtimer Posted September 9, 2005 Author Posted September 9, 2005 Thanks, I'm still having username/password problems...I just submitted a help desk ticket though. Quote
abinidi Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 The thing that I had the hardest time remembering was that you had to put your login name, then the plus sign, then your domain name and extension. So if I were jon@example.com, and I was entering my username for my mail, I had to enter jon+example.com. Maybe that will help... Quote
