credence Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 OK, is there anyway I can get MySQL on my server upgraded to atleast 4.1. According to my cpanel I am on server60. It is very cumbersome to not be able to write subqueries Quote
abinidi Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 If it is allowed, the fastest way would be to open a help desk ticket to Support. The support staff doesn't always frequent the forums, so the fastest way to find out if this is possible on your server is to open a Help Desk ticket. (The link to the help desk is at the top of this page). Quote
abinidi Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 Oh, and by the way, I haven't taken an opportunity to welcome you to the forums. (Even though others have welcomed you in a different forum.) Welcome! Glad you are part of the TCH Family!! Quote
TCH-Andy Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 Hi, MySQL 4.0 is still the current production release at this time. Once everything is stable in more recent versions, all servers will be changed. Quote
TweezerMan Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 From what I understand, MySQL 4.1 is also a "production release", but there are some significant differences between 4.0 and 4.1 that would cause a lot of scripts to break if MySQL was upgraded to 4.1 without warning. Quote
credence Posted August 17, 2005 Author Posted August 17, 2005 Yes MySQL 4.1 is a production release. Converting the queries to non-subqueries is going to take me hours and some I'm not entirely sure on how to do it. Any suggestions and/or tips? Quote
Head Guru Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 I think Andy meant 4.0 is the TCH "production" release. We do not have immediate plans to upgrade MySQL at this time. Quote

Any suggestions and/or tips? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think it would depend on the queries you're trying to set up. You might take a look at "Rewriting Subqueries as Joins for Earlier MySQL Versions" in the MySQL manual and see if there's anything there that might help you out. Quote
