Vintage Lover Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 Hello. I am considering getting a website. I currently have a mall store front for vintage clothing. How much bandwidth will I need if I want to keep my current mall store and use it to display my merchandise as well use my TCH pages for other stuff like hosting links and articles and stuff? does that make sense? Can you tell I am new to this? Here are my stats from last month: Total Hits 1647 Total Files 949 Total Pages 1028 Total Visits 986 Total KBytes 421 Total Unique Sites 887 Total Unique URLs 1 Total Unique Referrers 52 Total Unique User Agents 228 Thanks! TCH-Rick Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 All of the accounts provide much more bandwidth than you used last month. The Starter plan would work depending on the size of the files in your site. Quote
TCH-Don Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 Welcome to the forum Sandra If you start with the Starter plan and later outgrow it you can always ugrade to a higher plan. Quote

TCH-Rob Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 Welcome to the forum Sandra, The starter plan has 450MB. I would guess you arent getting close to that. You might want to start there and grow if you need it later. Quote

And, I don't want to use my domain name for my TCH website just yet. I want to design it first. Can I activate my account without using my domain name right away? Sandra Quote
TCH-Rob Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 Don't have to transfer if you don't want to. Just change the name servers when you are ready. If you do want to transfer the name there is a fee for it but you get an extra year added to the time you have left before it expires. You can register under the domain you intend to use and then you will get a welcome letter explaining how to access your site via IP until you are ready to make changes to the domain name itself. Vintage Lover Posted August 12, 2005 Author Posted August 12, 2005 Welcome to the forums, Sandra! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks for the warm welcome! Do any of the packages include marketing? Quote
TCH-Rob Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 Thanks for the warm welcome!Do any of the packages include marketing? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, all marketing efforts are to be done by the end user. cPanel has a search submission option but I find it not to be too reliable. Quote

The owner submits to Google regularly. Since that subdomain will be linked to my TCH site (maybe) I can assume my whole website will benefit right? Maybe you can;t answer that. How would linking to my mall site work? Would I have a "SHOP" button in my navigation bar which will take shoppers to my mall store? Sandra Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 Welcome to the forum, Sandra. How would linking to my mall site work? Would I have a "SHOP" button in my navigation bar which will take shoppers to my mall store? It would depend on how you design your site I would say. Some prefer to build a site and integrate the shop in to it. Then you would need a "shop" button I believe. Some people just set up their store with one of the shopping scripts available on the internet, directly in their root folders. Then I believe you would not need a "shop" button. Quote

I have subdomain on another name server: babylonmall.com I want this subdomain to serve as my shopping page. Will I be able to do this with your starter package? Sandra Quote

Sandra <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This person is doing exactly what I want: http://www.kitschnsinkvintage.com/ If you click on their "shop" button, it directs the person to their mall store front. Can I do this? Quote
TCH-Rob Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 If you are looking to have your initial pages here on your account and then have a button that takes you to your shopping cart at babylon mall then yes, you can do that on your account with us. Quote

I want my Babylon Mall page to seem as if it is just another page on my website. Can I do this? Or will it be obvious that you are being taken to another site? Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 It will only depend on how you design the site. With a little work I am sure you will be able to fit in perfectly in the design of the rest of the site. Quote
Vintage Lover Posted August 18, 2005 Author Posted August 18, 2005 Just wanted to let you all know that I am a proud mama of a TCH website. Thanks for all your help. Now I will nervously venture into the design of my new site! Sandra Quote
