divinepirate Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 Hi everyone, I have another question. It says on the TCH site that: _______________________________________________________________________ When you register your domain name with TotalChoice Hosting we promise that you will have full ownership of the domain. After all, it is your domain name! _______________________________________________________________________ I just wanted to confirm that if we register for a domain name w/TCH, it's regarded as independent from our webhosting account? In other words if we decide to change hosts for watever reason, will we be able to take the domain name w/us? Thanks! Quote
divinepirate Posted June 28, 2005 Author Posted June 28, 2005 oops, sorry, my bad. I shoulda read the other posts before i posted this one. I guess the answer is yes. Quote
divinepirate Posted July 1, 2005 Author Posted July 1, 2005 Hmm...do you guys recommend registering for a private domain name? do most people have private or public domain names? Is spamming a really big issue for public domains? From what I understand, a private domain name is registered under DomainsByProxy? So do we still own our domain name and can still "take it w/us" if we ever decide to switch hosts for whatever reason? Thanks! Quote
TCH-Rob Posted July 2, 2005 Posted July 2, 2005 All of mine are public because I am cheap. Trust me, sooner or later the SPAM monster will find you and there is nothing you can do to escape from its clutches. I prefer to curl up in a little ball when that happens. Honestly though, privacy has its positives but as a spam fighter I think it is limited. Quote
divinepirate Posted July 2, 2005 Author Posted July 2, 2005 Oic, thanks rob! =) What about ownership of the domain if itz registered under proxy? Quote
TCH-Rick Posted July 2, 2005 Posted July 2, 2005 You are still the owner of the domain if you use the privacy options, it just will not be listed in the public whois search. Quote
