Hi everybody,

I'm going to signup today or tomorrow morning.

One little question:

I have my website on the old host. I'm building right now a new site, which some of the pages I can publish now.

Should I transfer the old website to TCH, or just to send the old host a note about cancellation and publish part of the new site here ?

If I need anything from old site, I have all the files on my computer.

Totaly new site will probably lower my ranking on Google and other search engines. But I didn't profit from "ranking" anyway, and I guess to start totally new is better ?

Thanks! :P  :) :1eye: :D

I think that would be personal preference. If it were me, and the content was the same (just the site "re-drawn" so-to-speak), I'd publish the new look.

This would strictly be your preference. If you are changing the site completely and don't want to have to delete the old information if you do transfer it over I'd say just load up your new site and cancel your old one.

When is your old hosting up? If it runs through the end of the month, I wouldn't cancel until you were ready to go with your new site. Your site will not start resolving here until you switch the DNS name servers.

It really depends on how fast the remove your files from their servers.

My guess is a week would be about right.

Welcome to the TCH family.

So, if I give you all the DNS info, can I upload these few pages tomorrow ?

When to send them cancellation ? Tomorrow as well ?

When you purchase your hosting package you will receive an welcome email with the DNS information you need to change to make it work.

You will need to login to your domain registrar and change the DNS servers to point to the ones given in the email. You will also be given an IP number method to access your new TCH site until your domain name propogates.

If it were my site, I wouldn't cancel until after the domain name resolves correctly to your new site. If you cancel too soon, and the old hosting company removes your site from their servers, there is a chance that for a day users won't be able to see anything if they go to your site.

A little bit of overlap here will ensure you don't lose any visitors.

Welcome to the family!!
