woodygap Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 Welcome to the forums, stymie222 I am guessing you have looked in your startup folder try start button > run > msconfig uncheck it in the far rigth tab (startup) then remove it in control panel <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Don, I just read your last post and have always wondered about all the "run" commands in windows, like msconfig. Is there a list somewhere of these type of commands? I have looked around in the past but didn't find much. Just curious, Thanks for your time Woody Quote

Just curious, Thanks for your time Woody <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Most of the ones on those lists are just programs. Only a few, like COPY are internal commands. The cool run commands are the ones like services.msc that will load specific parts of windows without having to go through a bunch of clicks. Quote
Madmanmcp Posted May 19, 2005 Posted May 19, 2005 You can actually run any executable "program" from the "Run" or command window. As long as you give the full path it will startup just like you clicked an icon. And there are lots of "executables" besides the .exe and .com files. The .msc and .cpl, .pif are others... Do a search for them and try some out. Quote
TCH-Dick Posted May 19, 2005 Posted May 19, 2005 If you want to run something from the command line here is the easy way. I'll use traceroute as an example. Normally you would open the run box > type cmd > then run your command. If you try to run your command directly from the run box it will run, but the window closes upon completion. To slove this problem run your commands from the Run box this way: cmd /k tracert www.totalchoicehosting.com Quote
