One feature I like is batch converting a whole directory of images to a different format, or resizing them all with one operation. On a general level, I guess I'd say, no, IrfanView is not better than Adobe PhotoShop or Paint Shop Pro. But IrfanView is free, where as PhotoShop and Paint Shop Pro both cost money. IrfanView is a small program, while the other two applications are much larger. I view IrfanView as a very nice image utility (one that I use fairly often), and PhotoShop and Paint Shop Pro as full-blown image editing applications. Quote

John Carney Posted April 22, 2005 Posted April 22, 2005 The term "image editor," in this case, is a little inaccurate. Irfanview is more of an image viewer. You can adjust things like the overall brightness or color balance of an issue, crop or rotate it, or save it in a different file format. But you can't work on particular parts of an image. That having been said, Irfanview is one of the most useful pieces of freeware on my computer. It's a quick-loading, no-nonsense way to view any image file, and it's very useful for converting, say, TIFs into JPGs or what have you. It's a must-have, as far as I'm concerned. Quote
