TCH-Don Posted November 30, 2002 Posted November 30, 2002 Just wondering about the login name when you sign up. Is the login name, just to log into your control panel, or is it also a default email name? Other than that, I am ready. Quote
Lianna Posted November 30, 2002 Posted November 30, 2002 Hey Turtle, You were probably wanting one of the SNH guys to answer this, but I can't stay away from your avatar! Wish the CSB board had avatars sometimes. Yes, your login name is the default email address. But it doesn't really matter, because you can always set the email to forward to another address (as I have). You get a ton of email options here. POP3, forwarders, blockers, autoresponders, mailing lists, web mail and control over your default address (for handling misaddressed mail). You still diggin out from under the snow? Lianna Quote
TCH-Don Posted November 30, 2002 Author Posted November 30, 2002 Hi Lianna, Not much snow, Weather man was wrong, imagine that! LOL Thanks for the answer, I'm in! I need more space fast! take care, Quote
Lianna Posted November 30, 2002 Posted November 30, 2002 Welcome aboard! You're gonna love it here. Lianna Quote
mountaindew Posted December 1, 2002 Posted December 1, 2002 Turtle - Your account is live. Just wanted to let you know. Welcome to the ***** Family. oh and lstover thanks for the referral. Sunny Elliot is never wrong! Quote
TCH-Don Posted December 1, 2002 Author Posted December 1, 2002 Sunny Elliot? you must be south of me, I am above midland, and our weatherman is right now and then. But it's all Lake Effects right! Thanks, I am going over the CP now. Have a nice night, Quote
TCH-Don Posted December 1, 2002 Author Posted December 1, 2002 Love your avatar, I am a big Dew Fan, and now I am hooked on Dew Slurppies, does that make sense, it's 20 and the wind is blowing like mad. I have ftp working, and backed up the original files, put a splash page in, lot's of reading to do. This is a very good setup! Thanks again, you too Lianna. Quote
TCH-Don Posted December 1, 2002 Author Posted December 1, 2002 One more question, to Change Web Host DNS Servers on current host, there is a place to enter both New primary DNS server hostname: and Primary IP Address: and the same for secondary: but your email only shows name? What do I put in the Ip address window's? thanks, Quote
Lianna Posted December 1, 2002 Posted December 1, 2002 You shouldn't have to put anything in the IP Address fields. All of the registrar control panels that I have used, have done a lookup to populate those fields on their own based on the name entered. So just enter the name based ones: NS1.***** NS2.***** Lianna PS. I HAVE to get me a cool avatar now! Quote
TCH-Don Posted December 1, 2002 Author Posted December 1, 2002 Thanks Lianna, I will switch over on Tuesday, I should be ready by then. I will just blank out the IP windows. How about an Angel for your Avatar, I'll make one for you if you want. Quote
mountaindew Posted December 1, 2002 Posted December 1, 2002 Hey Guys - Just be advised that we have 6 nameserver IP Address allocations. You will need to check you welcome email to determine which NameServer IP youve been assigned to. Turtle your on NS5 & NS6 Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving! Quote
Lianna Posted December 1, 2002 Posted December 1, 2002 Thanks for that info. Rises a question then. My email had ns1, ns2, ns3 and ns4 listed and said they should be in that order. Does that then mean that all of my resold accounts will also be in that schema? That's how I've set them up, and they all seem to work fine, so I'm just curious. Also, this could explain something else that I noticed when querying whois records for my hosted domains. My domain shows IP addy for ns1 as different addy for ns1 of another domain that I host. ??? Example: stoverdatasystems.com - Domain servers in listed order: NS1.***** 64.191.26.182 NS2.***** 64.191.26.183 gonebarefootin.com - Domain servers in listed order: NS1.***** 64.191.23.200 NS2.***** 64.191.18.188 NS3.***** 64.191.26.182 As I told turtle, I only entered the name references for each of these and the IP was derived. Is this just no big deal? Lianna Quote
mountaindew Posted December 1, 2002 Posted December 1, 2002 The nameservers ns1 thru ns4 are for servers 1,2,3 & 4 Namservers ns5 & ns6 are for servers 5 , 6 and beyond. Since all your resold accounts are going to be on server 4 you can use any of the ns1 thru ns4 Quote
Lianna Posted December 1, 2002 Posted December 1, 2002 Ya. Got it. Thank you. So did you notice the weird IP addressing in my lookups? ns1 shows two different ip's for the two examples and then ns3 in the second is the same ip as ns1 in the first! Weird. Lianna Quote
TCH-Don Posted December 2, 2002 Author Posted December 2, 2002 to Change Web Host DNS Servers on current host, there is a place to enter both New primary DNS server hostname: and Primary IP Address: and the same for secondary: tried to change, received incomplete info error need the Ip address for primary and secondary. ok, I just changed the DNS, and left the IP alone, will have to see what happens Quote
Lianna Posted December 2, 2002 Posted December 2, 2002 Turtle, Just did a Who Is lookup on thepetscorner.com and you are showing the CORRECT name servers AND IP addresses. So, it worked (apparently DotEasy automates the IP entry as well, but it just can't start out blank). FYI, if you ever want to know the ip adress of a server, you can try to ping it from a command prompt. Type at the prompt: ping ns5.***** returns the ping results as well as a display of the IP in [brackets] and then also in each ping reply statement. You're good to go. Should be live in 24-48 hours on SNH. Lianna Quote

knucklehead Posted December 4, 2002 Posted December 4, 2002 Bob, Im looing into this now. I will let you know. Mikey Quote
knucklehead Posted December 4, 2002 Posted December 4, 2002 Hey - Ok here is the issue. Your IP address routes to a different country then that of your address listed with the CC you used. Thus it did not pass the fraud tests. Quote
knucklehead Posted December 4, 2002 Posted December 4, 2002 For a quicker response use our help desk. Cheers, Mikey Quote
